Along with write once read many (WORM) functionality, this cartridge is also PetaSite compatible after a firmware upgrade. This Gen 3 cartridge is read compatible with Gen 1 and 2 drives and write compatible with Gen 2 drives.
Flexible and Secure Data Archiving
This cartridge features solution provider options for easy integration into standard file systems and hybrid cloud infrastructures where data permanence is critical.
With 10-23 bit error rate (BER), the Optical Disc Archive is built for reliability. It also supports write once read many (WORM) functions.
Low power consumption, offline management, and wide environmental tolerances make going green easy.
Random access provides faster access to data when you need it and supports near-line storage workloads, allowing IT to reduce the growth rate and costs of expanding expensive primary storage tiers.
The Sony Optical Disc Archive utilizes the Universal Disc Format (UDF), providing an open and vendor-neutral file system.
Store virtually any digital asset thanks to safe and secure archiving.
Designed for long-term storage estimated up to 100 years, this cartridge is optimized to preserve historically important assets.
This cartridge meets industry specific storage regulations mandated by retention policies, automotive R&D software, legal documents, and collocated data recovery archives.
The Optical Disc Archive is ideal for archiving post production assets, including video, audio, project, graphic, effects, and other files.
Foster peace of mind by backing up camera originals to the Optical Disc Archive.
Valuable assets are stored on robust media while simultaneously providing fast access to assets when required.
Random-access capabilities make the Optical Disc Archive ideal for nearline access, taking the pressure off expensive primary Tier 1 storage.
Build an archive as you go using the ODS-L30M, available separately. Start with a 2 drive, 30 slot library that can expand to meet your needs as assets grow. The media can be barcoded to work with a system expansion robot.
Second-copy ready, the Optical Disc Archive can be used to to store dual copies or dual formats as mandated by archive guidelines.
A PetaSite library installed in a central location can service multiple network-connected locations. One library purchase can provide archiving for many while minimizing maintenance and hardware costs.
Though the Optical Disc Archive facilitates fast random access to assets, it is equally efficient in cold storage applications. Requiring no special environmental storage conditions, this design keeps HVAC costs low for an energy efficient footprint.
