Olympus LS-P5 Reviews
A great device ruined by bad internal mics
Everything is great minus one CON that made me return it. The internal microphones have a very high self noise. This is unacceptable for a recorder that is sorta geared for dictation. Seriously, plug in even the cheapest lav mic or mini shotgun and the noise floor of your recording will be cut by 70%. Also, if you're doing mp3 recordings, there is a really bad digital distortion that creeps in frequently. The engineers needed some more effort on this.
I am surprised at how good the sound is
Fantastic 24 bits audio recorder in a very small and compact package. I tested it in 24 bits 48khz FLAC - the sound is very good.
Not bad...
The mics were a bit fussy and are not on par with my current recorder. Which took away from it being the all in one compact on camera solution I was looking for. Since I already own a Tascam DR-40X I couldn't justify keeping this otherwise outstanding compact recorder with all it's bells and whistles. Not bad. Just wish the mics were better.
