It's a metal bowl. It goes dong.
I got tired of balancing a gimbal and expensive telephoto on a cheap levelling base, so I finally got this (for my mk1 TVC-34L). RRS's half ball adapter puts me off because it lacks an anti-rotation screw, but a third-party adapter saved me. This bowl was easy to fit and, by RRS standards, affordable. It seems to work fine, allowing smooth adjustment and a lower working height. It's one lump of metal that's the right shape, so it's hard to see how it could be wrong. I does make a very loud noise if it falls off a desk before you fit it, though.
Special ordered but worth the wait
RSS makes these special order but ordering from them I would have to pay tax and shipping. Since PA, until recently, didn't collect taxes and shipping is free, it's a no brainer going with . They always have great customer service and quick delivery.
