Leica CF D Overview
Take photographs in dark places and get even illumination with the Flash Unit for D-Lux (Typ 109) & D-Lux 7 from Leica. Offered here in black, the flash supports both TTL and Manual operation, and when attached to the camera, this flash can be used in all flash modes via the camera's menu. Slow sync and 2nd curtain sync modes are supported, as is flash exposure compensation, and the unit is rated to illuminate your subject up to 46' away when used in max wide mode. Additionally, this flash runs off the camera's power and additional batteries are not needed.

Much better than expected
For its size, this flash is amazingly powerful - as much as I need, even at 15-18 feet. And the color balance is excellent. Used close up (5 feet or less), I adjust exposure to -.5 or -1 or the photos wash out but that's to be expected. I try to avoid direct flash at all costs, but when I don't or can't, what's most impressive is how it yields images that do not have those dreaded harsh shadows. It is a very good unit - highly recommended.
It Didn't Work
After waiting a month to receive the product it turned out to not even work. Kind of disappointing.
Pleasantly surprised
I rate this tiny thing very highly. It and the D-Lux 7 are a great combination for casual travel photography. (I just returned from a long trip, and decided that I'm too old to keep around my clunky dslr with 2 or 3 lenses.) And 's quick, reliable service is as impressive as ever. (I've used them since they started in the '70's.)
