Quantum Instruments Qflash TRIO Overview
Take control of both on- and off-camera lighting with the bare-bulb Qflash TRIO Flash from Quantum, which features a built-in FreeXwire radio system for wireless operation from up to 500' away and an output rated at 80 Ws. This version is compatible with Canon's E-TTL / E-TTL II metering system and has a guide number of 105' at ISO 100 with the QF60 reflector, which also provides coverage of about 35mm on a full frame camera. The head can tilt upwards 90° as well as rotate both left and right 180° for full bounce functionality.
The flash runs on Turbo series battery packs, which can provide a recycle time of just 1.5 seconds at full power. The unit also has a variety of sync settings, including slow, high-speed, 1st and 2nd curtain. Additionally, options such as auto fill ratio enable simple usage for fast setups in changing lighting.

Quantum Instruments Qflash TRIO Reviews
Synchronized cord issue
When you attach the Quantum Qflash CoPilot in your hot shoe it tightens solidly with a wheel lock and eliminates any synch cord from camera to flash head with three radio frequencies for synch and other controls that actually make the unit a pro worthy piece of equipment. This is the way Quantum meant the unit be used!
Not Good for Nikon Cameras
I bought this after reviews claimed it was an awesome flash to use with Nikon cameras, that was a wrong idea, because its not the same brand the functions change and are slow to process back and forth from camera to flash, and flash to camera... Please remember your cameras are like computers and function much better at 100% when being used with the same product brand name!!!
THE BEST
On the camera or as a remote this is the best flash available for traveling jobs. A little on the exspensive side. I use the Q for weddings so I find it indespensible.
Nice
best for portraits
awesome flash
Awesome flash small learning curve if your new to working with a flash like this also never quits on you.
works great
I use this with my Nikon D-600 and the 70-200 2.8 VR lens on TTL for outdoor portraiture, often times with backlighting and competing with the sun, shooting way back at 200mm, with matrix metering and exposure-compensating up or down on flash as needed. I've had great luck. Hypersync works well, although I usually try to shoot as close to 250 as posible to get full flash power when needed. It never overheats. On an old Turbo 2x2 I get over 500 flashes per charge, and that's at close to full power (I'm trying to compete with the sun). Using matrix metering on aperature priority I'm sure to get proper exposure information for my background, wich I'm usually underexposing by one stop through exposure compensation on the camera. When not tryiing to bring down highlights in the background, that is, when my background isn't too bright, I follow Quantum's recomendation of using center-weighted metering and it's almost always spot on. I haven't used this flash indoors yet.
Very poor product
I purchased 2 of these with the turbo 3 battery packs. Quantum has changed the firmware to EZPro but has little to no documentation on use. The High Speed Sync (HSS) function is no longer available on the screens. I noticed that doesnt show any reviews after 2012 for these flashes! Something is amiss I would say. Dont buy
Most amazing flash i have ever own
Beautiful & consistent light. It's better, 1000 times better than your Canon, Nikon or any other brand flashes. I have these flash for some time and when I go back to manufacture brand name of camera flashes then i realize how good Quantum Trio flash are. Get it, you won't regret it.
