Boasting immense bandwidth of 900 kHz, the Fredenstein HD Mic Pre is a 500 Series microphone preamplifier designed to meet the demands of high-resolution digital recording standards such as 96 and 192 kHz, making it especially well suited for classical and jazz sessions. The fully discrete signal path and Class-A balanced output stage contribute to the preamp's precise and transparent sonic characteristics, which allow it to accurately translate the nuance and details of acoustic instruments.
The HD Mic Pre utilizes two gain controls to offer a gain range of +22 to +64 dB, so it can adequately serve dynamic, ribbon, or condenser microphones. Plus, the mic input's impedance is switchable between 1000 ohms and 200 kilohms. A front-panel 1/4" jack is provided for direct connection of a balanced or unbalanced instrument such as an electric guitar. With polarity, low-cut filter, and pad switches, the preamp lets you easily optimize the tone and avoid distortion. An 8-segment meter shows output level from -30 to +20 dB.
