Five bays allow you to install the 3.5-inch SATA III drives of your choosing, and the tray-less design allows you to place your drives into the enclosure without fiddling with screws or mounts. Each bay is equipped with its own locking mechanism so you can keep your drives safe and secure. You can manually turn your drives on and off with individually allocated power buttons, while a main power button rests on the back of the housing. This enclosure also supports hot-swap capabilities, allowing you to swap drives out without shutting down your entire system. A single 120mm cooling fan works cohesively with the aluminum design and dissipation holes to maintain thermal performance, preventing damage caused by excessive heat build-up.

great and fast
it has heavy handsome body and fast file transfer .each hdd bay is independent .it is quiet quiet in operation.
Perfect for my needs.
Absolutely thrilled with the build quality of this thing. Metal all around, and compact given no sleds or cages are needed. Using with my Mac Mini and the speeds are more than fine for my audio editing needs. One caveat is that the fan is a little louder than my PC's fan (but only runs when the drives are mounted). Thankfully the Sabrent uses a standard 3-pin 92mm fan, which I swapped out with a Noctua branded one, and a Low-Noise Adapter cable. Now it's near silent, with no heat issues. (Not sure if I recommend this if thew drive are going to be under constant load, but... To access the fan inside, remove the 8 screws and the rectangular metal locking plug on the bottom and the whole enclosure can slide forward.)
rating depends on usage
for windows it works pretty well but i occasionally get a 'file not found' error which goes away on retry. when attached to synology nas it will go offline when more than 1 drive accessed at the same time (disk to disk copy) and requires a nas reboot to recover.
short USB cable
It took me some time to get the unit to work because it shipped with a broken USB cable. Tanks to customer service at for immediately sending a replacement cable. Only 4 stars because the fan is not the most silent one and the include USB cable (only 18 inches) is too short to move the unit to a distance that makes the noice level acceptable.
