FMR Audio RNC1773 Overview
The RNC1773 Really Nice Compressor from FMR Audio is a stereo compressor in a 1/3 rack size which offers a high-fidelity audio path and versatile compression schemes to help you control the level of vocals or create dynamic special effects for percussive instruments.
The RNC1773 provides two modes of operation, controlled with five parameters. The Normal mode lets you set the compression's attack and release times to achieve snappy snares and popping basses. The Super Nice mode cascades three stereo compressors in series, reducing compression artifacts and producing nearly invisible compression for natural-sounding vocals, acoustic guitars, program bus, and more.
The Really Nice Compressor employs a microprocessor to replace sidechain analog components, which can cause scratchy pot and switch problems. No audio flows through the microprocessor or front-panel controls, giving you the accuracy and precision of digital control with the clean tonal character of an all-analog signal path. The unit comes with a sidechain input to make your sounds cut through the mix.

Yes it is
It actually is a really nice compressor. Yeah...it pops LOUD when I plug it in or unplug it...yeah...it's a goofy desktop size instead of a 19in rack... Other than that this thing is quiet, and effective.
Great value
FMR really are the best value for money compressors out there. I use them on stereo stems when summing, and they do the job beautifully. Much nicer than a plugin.
Pleasantly Surprised
Needed something to replace another brand of compressor (mono only) that just stopped working and was unable to be repaired! Picked this little gem up and ... Wow! Great fixer upper (especially for my typical needs vocals and bass guitar, easy to use, great results, smooth and transparent...PLUS the SUPER NICE mode is so user friendly...ALSO it is STEREO, when needed. Do not hesitate to buy this; you will not be disappointed!
Using for home theater set up
Works great for a home theater set up. I'm using a optical to analog converter then into this wonderful compressor then out to my audio receiver. It works great to reduce the extreme highs and bring up the very low sounds.

Why is it that the face plate is bubbly looking? And at least in 2 areas .... like running ink lettering. Sorry about this initial impression. BH please contact me. Disappointed.
Really, Really Nice. Like Super Nice. No, Nicer
It's just like it says. Really Nice. Glues everything together very well, works as a bus compressor for subtle pop, and can get all pumping and breathing when you push noisy DJ mixer output at it. Just perfect.
Clear quiet compression
I've considered getting one of these ever since hearing one in my friend's home studio almost 20 years ago. Glad I did-it's a small, lightweight and powerful addition to my guitar rack rig. Preserves high frequency sparkle and source tone nicely. Other high end compressors may add more personality and warmth but if you seek transparent performance without becoming thin, this may be your answer.
Really nice, but one issue
Works as advertised, roughly speaking, really quite good. A real nuisance that the really nice and bypass buttons do not retain their status over power cycles. Really interesting choice of model number ...
