Empress Effects HEVY Overview
Add weight to your high-gain guitar tone with Heavy from Empress Effects, a distortion pedal ideal for everything from crisp mid-driven '80s metal to scooped down-tuned brutal modernity. With two channels (Heavy and Heavier) and 3-band EQ with sweepable mids, you can handle searing leads and thick rhythms with ease.
With the addition of Weight control, you can easily sculpt your low-end frequencies for any playing style. The adjustable noise gate sports Natural and Aggressive modes for keeping pesky noise out of your signal chain. And with true bypass, you can maintain a pure, transparent signal.
Midrange is a key element of a great distorted sound, so the mid frequency is sweepable from 500 Hz to 2 kHz to dial in the sweet spot for your guitar and amp. Scoop for a tight, aggressive sound, or push to add definition and cut through a mix. You can also use the mid sweeping to tune one channel for a lead/solo sound and the other for a more rhythm-oriented tone.
With Aggressive mode, the gate clamps down quickly, making it ideal when playing tight starts and stops. There is also a trim pot on the side of the pedal that lets you set the threshold for the gate.
