Pearl Microphone Labs ELM-B Large-Diaphragm Figure-8 Condenser Microphone (Matched Pair)

Well suited to stereo Blumlein recording, this matched pair of ELM-B mics from Pearl Microphone Labs features two large-diaphragm condenser microphones with figure-8 polar patterns designed for professional studio recording. At the heart of the ELM-B lies the rubber-fitted ELM capsule, a unique 7:1 rectangular condenser capsule that offers an extremely smooth off-axis response, detailed sound capture, and very-low self noise. 

The 7:1 length/width ratio of the capsule means that the polar pattern for each side of the capsule functions like a standard cardioid in the horizontal plane, while vastly reducing the high frequencies arriving from the vertical plane above and below the mic�a property that can be extremely useful for minimizing unwanted reflections from the floor and ceiling and providing the audio engineer with a valuable tool to handle poor room acoustics and challenging acoustical environments. This unusually narrow horizontal plane make the ELM-B an excellent choice for choirs, string orchestras, symphonies, and ensembles.

This configuration of the ELM-B is sold as a matched stereo pair, great for Blumlein stereo recordings. Alternatively you can pair a single ELM-B with a cardioid microphone for an M-S stereo setup. The mics feature gold-plated XLR connectors and require 48V phantom power. A pair of rubber shockmounts and a wooden box is included.
