Basic Tips for Recording Audio for Video | Audio for Video, Part 1Choosing a Mic for Video Production | Audio for Video, Part 2How to Get Great Audio Levels | Audio for Video, Part 3Recording Sound to Your Camera vs. an Audio Recorder | Audio for Video, Part 4
Capture intelligible speech, dialogue, and interviews in noisy environments with the Polsen MVP-6, a compact shotgun microphone that can easily be used with DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, smartphones, and portable recorders while delivering sound quality unmatched by the built-in mics on such devices. The mic's lightweight form means that it won't weigh down your shooting rig, and it can easily be mounted atop a camera or on a tripod. Thanks to the smartphone/camera switch and the 3.5mm TRRS plug on the attached coiled cable, the MVP-6 ensures compatibility with powered 3.5mm (1/8") ports on most recording devices.
The shotgun style and directional supercardioid polar pattern work together to provide accurate, focused pickup in front of the mic along with enhanced rejection of off-axis sound. Vibration and handling noise are minimized by the integrated shockmount, which has a built-in camera shoe and 1/4"-20 socket for versatile mounting. Equipped with low-noise electronics and an anti-interference design, the MVP-6 offers clean and clear audio signal, and the supplied foam windscreen reduces noise from light breezes.
For DSLRs, Smartphones, and Portable Recorders
Relying on the built-in microphone of a DSLR, smartphone, or portable recorder can compromise your production with inadequate audio. Whichever you choose, the MVP-6 will add noticeably better sound to your video and improve the quality of your production. The MVP-6 runs on the power from the recording device, so no additional cables or power sources are needed.
Instantly Improved Sound Quality
The MVP-6 has an integrated cable that's compatible with any DSLR, smartphone, or portable recorder with a powered 3.5mm (1/8") audio input jack. All you have to do is plug in, flip the mic's smartphone/camera switch to the appropriate position, set your levels, and start recording.
Supercardioid Polar Pattern
The MVP-6 features a supercardioid polar pattern that's perfect for capturing voices in noisy environments, because it focuses on the sound directly in front of it, and rejects off-axis sound. Shooting interviews on convention floors as well as run-and-gun interviews for documentaries and journalism are all scenarios where the supercardioid MVP-6 will bring home the audio you need.
Lightweight
The lightweight MVP-6 shotgun microphone weighs less than two ounces, so it won't weigh down a DSLR, smartphone, or handheld rig.
Wide Frequency Range
The MVP-6 has an extremely wide frequency range for a compact microphone. Its 40 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range ensures you'll hear accurate details and all the nuances of the sound you're recording.
Shockmount
The integrated shockmount will minimize unwanted noise when you're shooting on the go because it prevents vibrations from reaching the microphone. Whether the MVP-6 is mounted on a DSLR, boompole, or smartphone gimbal, handling and machine noise won't compromise your audio.
Anti-Interference
When you're out there shooting, there's no telling where interference is coming from. Power lines, streetlights, and even passing cars can wreak havoc on audio recordings due to RF and EM interference. When the sound quality is crucial to your production, the MVP-6's anti-interference design protects the circuitry, so you won't have to reshoot due to the hum, buzz, and static from interference.
Plug-and-Play Operation
The MVP-6 is ready when you are. No battery or extra power cables are necessary when connected to devices with a 3.5mm powered mic input. Just set the mic's smartphone/camera switch to the correspond with the device you're using.
