The PortaScreen V2 from Angler is a portable 80 x 58" white screen ideal for headshots, interviews, and product photography in offices, functions, and banquet halls. Best Background ever
I loved It is nice and professional
White screen see through
I was excited to get this as some others that hang from a bar setup seem to always be wrinkled when they are stored for a while. I was excited to get this & when I unpacked it I realized that if I used it outdoors or near a window during the day I'd have a problem with the frame being seen through the white screen when shooting a photo using it as a backdrop. Dang it - if the backdrop/screen was a little more opaque it would be a no brainer. I'll just have to be very conscience of it's placement during the day
Quick and easy setup
Quick and easy popup background for video and photo. Great for portraits or product photography. My wish list for this product would include making it a bit more stable. It's easily effected from air movement - even indoors. Also, a larger size would be great.
I had the black one, now the white. BOTH are great!
First, I�ve reviewed the black PortaScreen about 3 weeks ago. I liked it so much I had to review the white as well. Same great product, to setup is less than 30 seconds. Simply open the 2 small latches, rise the screen...DONE! This is nothing short than a TON of FUN, speed and convenience! I can�t stress that enough. Can�t wait to take this to a company�s office. It will look so professional and neat. Before the PortaScreen existed: I simply detest setting up backgrounds on stands, paper roll, or muslin backgrounds, anything on a paper core type or slide though backgrounds that also often require de-wrinkling. It�s so tedious, time consuming and a lot of work... not anymore with this product. I primarily work with video but now I instantly wanted to shoot portraits all the time. Btw, you can also use this for video interview (which you must go landscape orientation) as long as you film a �headshot� style kind of thing on the landscape mode (considering the width of the background), or, if vertical video is your thing, even though is not a correct way to film, then you can take full real estate of this background for your video such as Tic-Toc. For even best results, If you use a telephoto, it helps compress the foreground and background, so, you can still film half a person in there without easily run out of that background space. Very cool. I hope they plan to make a 9� wide option. I�ll get that in a heartbeat, ESPECIALLY for VIDEO, It would be just as wide as a paper background, thus, weighting almost the SAME despite the PortaScreen�s aluminum body. A 9� wide backdrop also weighs significantly, so, no big deal, and again, FUN, speed and CONVENIENCE! There was a reviewer that posted a review before me. He complained that he could see the PortaScreen�s back mount hardware shadows when placing this white screen near a window or outdoors. Do not use this background near a window with sunlight shining through, in front of a window, (ESPECIALLY a WHITE one) as the support frame hardware that rises the background will be showing through the fabric. It's an OBVIOUS thing to happen. ANY background of any type, brand, material you use (paper, Muslim, vinyl, canvas) with a strong light behind the background will project shadows, sunlight, what have you, through the background. You're supposed to make sure you keep backgrounds away from these spots, and ONLY allow light to shine IN FRONT (the lighting that illuminates the background). Even if Angler decided to upgrade to a heavier fabric, there's, the same issue will happen if placing a background in these conditions. In short, don't let anything shine in the back. Another NO GO is to take this unit outdoors. It's not designed for that, the same way you won't take a paper background roll outdoors. That's' not recommended either. The slightest breeze, or even worse, unpredictable wind gusts would not only damage this product causing it to wrinkle the background but will also FALL faster than you can blink, including a regular paper background with stands. If you want to use a background outdoors, use Muslim materials and don't forget the SANDBAGS placed on the stands. Also keep it away from pets and children from reaching or touching it. For best results, like you�d do to any white background: 1- for pure white: light the background separately and EVENLY with its own lighting, preferably using a strip (skinny) softbox, using 2 identical lights of the same brand, power setting, distance and color cast / temperature. Do NOT exceed 95 IRE (sensor white levels so you don�t blow up / clip the whites, during and in post) 2- light your foreground subject with separate lighting exclusively for it, he or she, slightly underexposed compared to the background and keep distance of a minimum of 3� away from the background, so when you edit in post, adjusting your curves or brightness, you have some safety room levels to play with until you reach a pure white without over exposing the person or product that was slightly underexposed on purpose you�re photographing or filming. 3- then, in post, you can increase or decrease the white brightness until the background is pure white without clipping anything including the object you�re photographing or filming. What NOT to do: 1- Expose this product to high heat, high humidity, and low temperatures to avoid damage such as wrinkles, discoloration, warping etc. 2- raise the screen rapidly. Take your time! Riding slowly still only takes a few seconds. 3- do not use outdoors! 4- keep away from any light source or reflections that can hit it from the back of this screen. 5- don�t forget to rotate the bottom feet 90° to form a stable base for the PortaScreen before attempting to rise the screen up. Again, like I said in my black PortaScreen review... Just treat it nicely, follow my instructions and theirs and you'll have it lasting for many years. A MUST HAVE! Either one of the 3 options, black / white/ Chroma green. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]
