Works Fine but....T

After in camera charging and not liking to have a spare charged battery, I succumbed to purchasing the OM system battery charger. Very disappointed it does not come with a cable and I am forced to use the cable which came with the camera. Although this charger works well for two batteries and charging is better than in camera, I feel it is way too expensive for what it is, and not to come with a charging cable?? Shame on OMDS! They can do better.

Could be more convenient

It works fine but needs the same power adapter and USB-C cable that the camera uses, so no simple AC plug to travel with. And the $149 price is on the outrageous side. It does charge two batteries, but so does the cheap 3rd party charger that my E-M1s can use. The alternative is having the camera tied to the cable and power adapter, not a great option for me.

Expensive and incomplete

The OM-1 camera does not come with a charger, so I bought the BCX-1 charger because I prefer a separate charger to in-camera charging. On trips, however, I can see doing both at the same time. So I was disappointed to find out that this expensive charger does not come with a cord and a wall plug. Apparently OM Systems expects you to use the cord that comes with the camera for in-camera charging. Even had it come with a cord and wall plug, at $149 this is too expensive.

needs accessories

This charger does not come with the plug or cord needed to charge it, which is very disappointing. Furthermore, does not even list the necessary OMF7AC charger plug or the OMCBUSB13necessary cable as accessories with the item, let alone necessary essential accessories.

Great with caveats

I love the charger. I hate the USB-C charging cord and the adapter. I wish it just had a simple cord like everything else I have to carry along to charge stuff.

Nickel-and-Diming

I received my charger/battery prior to receiving the camera. I was surprised to see that the connection to this charger was not your typical removable AC cord. There were no other cables/adapters supplied with this charger. How was I going to charge the battery? Your typical USB AC adapters, power strips with USB ports or USB-A/USB-C cables will not work. I was fortunate to have a GoalZero power bank that supported the USB PD standard using USB-C connections. It also supplied the proper USB-C/USB-C cable. Once the power bank was connected to the charger the battery charged. Since Olympus decided to deviate from the standard AC cord they should have included the USB PD AC Adapter and cable with the external charger. Unfortunately these need to be purchased separately ($55 + $22), which I did ,after my experience. AC cord would have just cost $10 or less (but most people already have them). I know the camera comes with the adapter/cable but like to have a spare set just in case. I never charge my batteries in the camera (unless it is not removable). The camera should stay a camera. If anything goes wrong with the charge circuit or should the battery have a malfunction inside the camera, you will not be able to charge the battery or worse case scenario have to replace the camera. Unlike other cameras that offer charging-in-camera that use USB (5V), the OM-1 will require the USB PD for it to charge in camera. Later models of power strips and laptops do support USB PD.
