The Sony PCM-D10 is a portable high-resolution linear PCM audio recorder offering versatile recording and playback configurability for musicians, sound recordists, podcasters, and more. Its onboard stereo microphones can be positioned in XY for capturing instruments; Zoom, for documenting speeches; or Wide Stereo for recording ambience and nature sounds. Dual XLR-1/4" combo inputs accommodate mic- or line-level sources, and feature independently selectable 48V phantom power. A 3.5mm TRS input is provided for connection of an unbalanced microphone or mixer feed. The integrated dual-path limiter prevents distortion by automatically replacing clipped sections with a safety signal recorded at a lower level.
Record in uncompressed WAV format at up to 24-bit / 192 kHz, or in MP3 format at up to 320 kb/s. The 16GB of internal memory ensures plenty of recording time out of the box, while the memory card slot allows up to 256GB of storage via SD/SDHC/SDXC cards (available separately). Use the 5-band equalizer to enhance the playback sounds, change the pitch, and even adjust the speed without altering pitch. The PCM-D10's built-in Bluetooth capabilities allow it to stream playback to a Bluetooth monitoring system, and enable its app-based remote control from your mobile device.
Power the PCM-D10 with the four supplied AA batteries or via a USB Type-C connection. It includes a windscreen, one USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable, a carrying pouch, and a license for Sound Forge Audio Studio 12 editing software.

Sony PCM-D10 Reviews
Good quality
nice recorder with phantom power.
Makes great recordings without complicated set up
Makes great recordings without complicated set up. I've seen lots of questions here and thought I would jump in and give some clarification of what this recorder is designed to do. It's a masterpiece if you want to show up and make a great recording of live music or some other sound that could be used in a professional recording. The microphones are certainly adequate, the case is hardened, it has two XLR inputs with phantom power in case you want to use pro external microphones. you can set it up in one minute, turn it on, and be ready to go without all of the time and distraction of setting up separate microphones, microphone processors, AD converter's, Setting levels, and so forth. I have used mine as a safety copy of pro recordings coming off a mixing board. It even has digital inputs. if you were going to use it with a bunch of accessories and it never leaves your house, I think it's probably overkill and it's not really what it's designed to do although it certainly will.
Great sound
I have only tried out the built-in mics...and they sound great. Cant imagine any preferred external mics posing an issue. 5 stars on the sound. I paired it with a ProGrade UHS-II card. There is no mention of card specs beyond SDXC. It works...though Im sure that card is asking 4gb/hr max? Thats it? The controls are good. Button spacing is great as is the mic gain dial on the side. So why only 4 stars? 2 reasons. First is power. Second is the case. It runs on 4xAA batteries. That part is fine. I expected that. I wanted that part. But having a USB-C port I thought there was an internal battery as well. There is not. I had read the reviews saying it does not work as an interface, so... The USB port is only for real-time power input. And the case is a simple fake-leather bag with drawstring closure that is not quite big enough to accommodate the foam noise filter
Great for spoken voice recordings!
I'm finding the D10 a joy to work with. It solves a real need within my audio recording setup. The preamps of the D10 are not as good as those in the D100. Indeed the D100 sets a gold standard for portable recording pre-amps. So if you are recording ambient sounds or nature sounds or anything really soft then the D100 is a better bet. Another alternative: if you want XLR connectors the Sound Devices MixPre3 is fantastic. However, for recording spoken voice, two person conversations/interviews, or music I find the D10 more useful for my purposes becau
