The IOGEAR UpStream Pro Video Production Switch works with a companion UpStream Studio iOS app to provide a 6-in-1 live streaming solution. It's designed to provide a simplified yet professional-quality streaming solution for everyone from an aspiring YouTuber to an experienced content creator. It allows you to easily capture, preview, monitor, edit, and stream video. Offering dual live stream capability, the UpStream Pro allows you to stream live or recorded video in up to 1080p30 to two platforms at the same time. (After an expected firmware update that's in the works, it will also be capable of recording your entire program to an optional external hard drive, which can be connected to one of the USB Type-A ports.)
The UpStream Pro features a single 4K HDMI input and two 1080p HDMI inputs, plus audio ports. It allows you to connect and capture up to three HDMI sources at the same time, plus a microphone and independent audio via RCA audio inputs. HDMI sources can include cameras, gaming systems, laptops, and more. For monitoring, a 1080p HDMI output (SRC/PGM) can be used to output your entire program with all your overlays to a display. Also, a 4K HDMI loop output is provided that will let you locally monitor your 4K HDMI source with no latency.
Via an Ethernet port, you can connect to the Internet and stream directly to platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Mixer, and more. In the Settings section of the app, you get to enter up to two destination URLs as well as other settings.
Compact and with a small footprint, the UpStream Pro can comfortably be used at home as well as in the studio, and it's easy to take with you wherever you go. There's a slot on the edge of the device for inserting your iPad to face you, and an included USB cable to connect the iPad to the UpStream Pro.
With the iPad placed on top of the UpStream Pro, you can use the combination of the T-bar, physical buttons, and app interface to mix your session in real time. If the presentation allows, the presenter can do this while presenting. Otherwise, while one person delivers the presentation, another can control the mix. You're able to select from eight preset layout scenes and apply effects, overlays, and transitions. A lot of what can be done can also be applied to the recorded footage or program (once this feature is available) after the end of the presentation.
