Fantastic Projector
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the LG projector to replace the excellent but old Sharp projector. While I was very happy with the sharp, I did not expect that I would be blown away by the quality of the picture that the LG produces. It's out of this world. Colors and true, bright and vivid. Every show that we see looks so much better. I highly recommend this projector. I have old Onkyo preamplifier and amplifier set up which are unable to pass through 4k signal. SO I use the LG as a receiver and loop back the audio signal to the Onkyo processor via optical cable. This setup works really well. There are 3 HDMI inputs which are really good.
Lack of support and major issues with HDR
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This projector has been out for nearly a year and has yet to receive a firmware update. There are a number of issues that could easily be addressed by an update (24p handling, audio lag, crushed dark details for HDR content, overly blue picture out of the box). I needed to buy an expensive Blu ray player with HDR optimization capabilities to make my 4k HDR discs watchable. Additionally my unit came with a lens defect that needed repair services leaving me with an empty home theater for an extended period of time. The zoom and lens shift mechanisms are clunky at best. This projector could be good, possibly great IF LG chose to support it and listen to their customers. Will not be purchasing from LG in the future.
Nice picture and a lot of features

Great picture!

I read many articles and watched a lot of YouTube videos until it became clear the LG Cinebeam was the right choice for us. The picture is amazing for a pixel shifting 4K projector. I can't the difference. It looks better than my 4K tv. LOVE IT!
Luv this projector

One thing for Consideration, this projector is very heavy and installing on ceiling takes a lot of effort
The Right Purchase for my Criteria
The goal was to replace an early 2000's Yamaha projector in my family room. It is a large open room with a few bay windows. With that said the house is isolated from neighbors and can be made relatively dark at night. But, this is not a dedicated theater room. My criteria is twofold. 1. Given that the projector is ceiling mounted, it must work not be a giant obtuse looking projector (ruling out the Epson models I was really interested in). 2. It had to work from the same 13' distance to my 96 screen so I didn't have to get into tearing apart the finished ceiling. Less importance was put on getting a projector that worked great in daylight, it just has to be functional. I will use it for an event like the Superbowl, but it is mainly for nightime movies. The LG is the right balance of these needs. It has a really good picture, but perhaps not great. While it is sizeable the shape makes it less obvious than the smaller grey Yamaha it replaced. I actually quite like the look of it. The throw distance has a 1:1.6 adjustment which works really well. I was able to use the exact mount already present. Lastly it is quiet enough and stays cool to sit directly over my couch. The only area of sacrifice has been its performance in light. When the screen is retracted I have a 65 TV present and I can't see using the projector during the day. It simply is not great at daytime viewing in daylight conditions. However the picture is really good for night time movies and it has been a great step up from the 1080 projector. HDR and 4k movies are really excellent. I would certainly recommend it, you won't be disappointed unless you need that daytime viewing.
Sharp and realistic
