Westcott Switch Beauty Dish Overview
This silver interior Beauty Dish Switch by Manny Ortiz from Westcott has a collapsible design that allows for rapid assembly and breakdown, making it easy to transport. The highly reflective silver interior provides maximum output with specular highlights. It offers color-neutral diffusion that only absorbs one stop. The deflector plate helps redirect light outward to defeat the hot spot, providing edge-to-edge softness. The term "Switch" in the name refers to the quick release locking mechanism that makes for quick, easy, yet secure changes to the mounting insert, allowing this one beauty dish to be used with a variety of light fixtures. The dish requires a mounting insert (not included) compatible with the light fixture you are using. In addition to the included neutral color diffusion panel, an optional 40° eggcrate grid can be attached to help control the directionality of the light.

Don't get me wrong! This dish is well made but not up to the standard you would expect spending this amount of money you shell out on this. Also, I would expect to add the adapter plate with this. Wow!
First time using a Beauty Dish of any kind, wow! I compared off camera flash with pictures of the same model, my dogs ,with the Westcott Switch Beauty Dish ( 24' ), night and day, pardon the pun. I'm using speed lites with mine and the quick switch makes going from one dish to another smooth and easy. So excited to dive into the world of flash photography with these beauty dish's.
Nice light, easy to operate
This beauty dish is pricey compared to competitors, but it's worth it. Better construction, deeper for more directional light. Very easy to open and close
First time
I used the beauty dish after shooting with the FJ400 alone. It softened the light over my subject so much. Will be using a lot more.
Some great things about this, but hinge failed at 3rd use
The first few times I used this, I was impressed on the quality of construction, the speed ring adapters which work well, and the overall quality of light. However, the way the supporting struts work is with a hinge in the middle, which allows the outer fabric to form and lock into a tight structure. The third time I used the product, one of the small metal inserts that hold these metal struts together came out, breaking the hinge. I'm now concerned this could start to happen with the other hinges over time. A shame, since this is a great product apart from this defect
Great Construction and Output
Loving this modifier! It's built really well and everything fits in so well between the actual dish and front diffusion fabric. Really enjoying the Switch functionality also - I've got mostly Godox/Flashpoint lights in my studio but I love being able to pop in a Profoto mount when I use a Stella Light. Makes me want to switch all my modifiers to Westcott Switch...
