The Explore Scientific FirstLight 90mm f/5.6 Achro Refractor Alt-Az Telescope combines portability and simplicity to provide new users with a complete observational platform for viewing the moon and planets. Outfitted with a 3.5" aperture, it can gather enough light to easily reveal lunar details, pick out Martian icecaps, and resolve Saturnian rings. Its sturdy rack-and-pinion focuser allows it to handle heavier or awkward loads such as DSLR imaging rigs, or the included smartphone adapter, and the 1.25" drawtube accepts the most common and popular sized eyepieces and accessories to allow easy add-ons as the user progresses in the hobby.
The OTA is carried by an easy-to-use "U"-style yoke alt-azimuth mount, and supporting the mount head and OTA is an adjustable-height aluminum tripod that comes with a center tray to add stability and offer a convenient place to hold accessories such as eyepieces, filters, and adapters. To ensure users can start viewing right out of the box, Explore Scientific includes two eyepieces that produce high and moderate magnifications, a 90° erect-image diagonal so the scope can also be used as a conventional terrestrial spotting scope, and a red dot finder.
