Denecke JB-1 Overview
The Denecke JB-1 Syncbox Timecode Generator is an ultra-compact, lightweight syncbox powered by an internal LiPo battery lasting up to 150 hours. Supporting all standard frame rates including 23.976, the JB-1 automatically senses the incoming timecode rate and features a single bidirectional BNC connector.
The JB-1 generates, reads, and jam syncs timecode, offering six preset and two user-selectable output levels. Its Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) eliminates the need to jam more than once per day. A large backlit display enables you to easily read your timecode and settings, even when shooting outside.
Weighing only two ounces, the JB-1 includes an LED status and low/dead battery display. It provides an easy-to-use menu and is updatable via Mac or Windows using its micro-USB port.

Reliable timecode generator
Works great for run and gun documentary and more. It's so small and the timecode is rock solid. It's clunky to set the u-bits, but that's my only qualm.

This lil guy displays easily readable TC, it's navigation is simple, it stays charged for a LONG time and it has an industry standard LOCKING connector (bnc), all while being cased in a durable aluminum housing. If there is any problems, customer support is here in California and I know I got my back covered. Camera team loves them for size and ease of use. Unless you need genlock, these are some VERY impressive units! So far so good!

Simple Industry Standard
This is an accurate industry standard little box that will keep your audio and cameras in sync. Denecke has been making timecode boxes for a long time and this truly little thing can last days with it's battery life. It doesn't have all the fancy apps and functions that the other brands have, but you are sure you will have reliable sync with the rest of the crew and won't need any app functions anyways. The only thing it doesn't have is genlock, but most of the time timecode with bnc cables is all you need.

I do really love these TC boxes and now that I have working ones, all is well but that is kind of a shocking QC track record for Denecke. Phone support is good with knowledgeable staff. Could have just been bad luck, no design is without its lemons. FYI - does not do advance replacement so you have to buy another one before they ship a replacement.
