Cherished for sports and wildlife applications, the EF 600mm f/4L IS III USM is a Canon L-series super telephoto lens distinguished by its advanced, lightweight design, quick and intuitive handling, and high speed performance. Using fluorite, Super UD, and aspherical elements, both chromatic and spherical aberrations are kept to minimum in order to realize sharp, clear image quality with accurate rendering and color fidelity. Both Super Spectra and Air Sphere Coatings also contribute to color accuracy and helps to control flare and ghosting when working in backlit and harsh lighting conditions.
In addition to its optical merits, the 600mm f/4 is also characterized by its advanced five stop-effective Image Stabilizer system, which has three separate stabilization modes to suit various shooting applications. Also complementing handling is a sophisticated ring-type USM, which provides quick, quiet, and accurate autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. A customizable electronic focusing ring further contributes to precise manual focus control, by affording three focusing sensitivity levels for different applications. Additionally, this lens is weather-sealed for use in trying environmental conditions and it has a removable rotating tripod collar to benefit working atop a tripod or monopod.

What a beast of a lens.
Super fast focus even when using an adapter on R3 or R5. Lightweight compared to old lenses. Typically it's not the weight that gets in the way, it's the size of the lens. Would recommend if budget allows. If you want the best canon has to offer this is it. I like to use zooms most of the time, but with this, there is something magical about the pictures, they just pop a bit more than when using a zoom.

I have not put the lens through it�s paces yet. However, putting it through the basics I am very please with the lens - weight, great balance and of course optics.
Amazing piece of glass.
Moving up from a consumer 150 - 600mm. Difference in image quality is night and day. Shot mostly with a 1.4x TC on a 5d4 body. Amazing results. Fairly light, definitely handholdable. Worth every cent.
Great lens
I contemplated buying this for about a year, but after finally deciding to do it I am very happy. If you can come to terms with the cost, you will not be disappointed with the pictures you will get.
None better!
If you shoot Canon, want a super telephoto lens, and can afford the insane price. I would highly recommend this beautiful piece of equipment. So sharp, super fast focus and so much lighter than my 500mm f4 is that even my non-photographer wife could tell the difference.
Light Weight Winner
I shot Elk in the Cataloochee Valley in the North Carolina SmokyMountains usinfg a tripod and did a couple of hand held shots this morning at 160th of a second because I read a couple of review with people having problems at that speed with hand held. I do not normally shot hand held. These images speak for themselves. The elk was shot using a tripod and the other 2 were hand held at 160th of a second.
Spectacular image quality
Outrageously expensive but you get what you pay for. Breathtaking images, fast and accurate autofocus, unbelievably lightweight for its size. I love this lens.
Incredible Lens
This lens is worth every penny. Easily hand held, it is fantastic for birds in flight. Like any long lens, it takes a bit of practice and learning, but I found that this was accomplished in a very short period of time. I would consider this the best lens I have eve owned and the results are awesome and very rewarding.
