Schoeps CMIT Double M/S Piano Set Microphone Trio with Windscreen System

The Schoeps CMIT Double M/S Piano Set is a trio of Schoeps condenser microphones with a windscreen system designed for double mid-side recording of dialog and instruments; either indoors or in windy conditions outdoors. It includes a CMIT 5U shotgun microphone, a CCM 4Lg cardioid mic, a CCM 8Lg figure-8 microphone, a basket-type windscreen set, fur cover, mic clip, and necessary cables.

The microphones boast wide frequency responses, excellent off-axis rejection, and compact bodies. The included PIA-3S windscreen set features elastic suspension to cradle the microphones and eliminate handling noise. Install the supplied cloth cover or long-pile fur cover over the protective cage for enhanced immunity to wind noise without compromising acoustical transparency.

The PIA-3S has a one-axis swivel adapter with 3/8" threading, allowing easy mounting on a boompole. An integrated cable system provides one XLR 3-pin and two LEMO plugs merged to an XLR 7-pin output. External connectivity is simplified via the supplied XLR 7-pin extension and breakout cable, which converts an XLR 7-pin to three XLR 3-pin connectors.

• CMIT 5U Shotgun Microphone (Blue)

  The blue Schoeps CMIT 5U is a short, lightweight shotgun condenser microphone designed to deliver accurate close and distant capture of dialog and musical instruments for boom operators, audio engineers, and musicians in film, television, and video production as well as music recording applications. Its supercardioid/lobe-shaped polar pattern yields precise directionality, high immunity to wind noise, and low coloration at the off-axis sections of the capsule.

  Multiple filter settings allow you to tailor the 40 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response to suit different environments and scenarios. A 40 Hz roll-off is active without any filter selection; the switches provide low-cut filters at 80 Hz or 300 Hz for management of proximity effect and handling noise, while a selectable high-frequency boost at 10 kHz enables increased vocal clarity and compensation for high-frequency loss caused by windscreens.

  LED indicators provide a reading of settings in low light and the settings are retained after power down. No batteries are required as the CMIT 5U is operated via 48V phantom power. It includes a windscreen, mic clip, and wood case.

• CCM4 LG Cardioid Compact Microphone

  The Schoeps CCM4 is a miniature cardioid microphone with detachable cable. The radial design is a direct result of the demand for a cardioid capsule where the maximum pick up occurs on the side as opposed to the front (top) of the capsule.

  The acoustically transparent housing is particularly effective in reducing high frequency signal energy at the off-axis sections of the capsule, a common problem among standard cardioid elements. The linear frequency response features a slight rise at 10kHz, which enhances presence and intelligibility. The cardioid lateral pick up and high frequency response characteristics render the CCM4 more than viable for speech, general instrument capturing, mono and stereo ambiance capturing.

  Radial Pick-up Design

  Lateral cardioid pick up pattern is the result of a design that enables the maximum pick up response to occur on the side of the capsule.

  Detachable K5 LU Cable

  This version of the CCM4 features a detachable cable allowing easier microphone interchanging and placement.

• CCM8 LG Figure-Eight Compact Microphone

  The Schoeps CCM8 is a miniature figure-eight microphone with detachable cable. The figure-eight pattern design provides a bi-directional pickup that is almost completely identical at all frequencies. The figure-eight pattern is also useful in M/S stereo capturing.

• AK DMS 3U Adapter Cable

  The AK DMS 3U Adapter Cable from Schoeps is used with the Schoeps "Surround Sets" for the Double M/S system. An XLR-7M output connector carries the signals from all three microphones (front mid, figure-8 and rear mid); the AK DMS 3U then splits the three signals out again.
