Protect your precious equipment, ears, and venue permits with the SL22 Sound Level Limiter from Drawmer, a 2-channel, 19", 1 RU rack unit which delivers reliable protection from overly hot signals without degrading signal quality. The SL22 helps prevent damage to your equipment and conform to Local Authority Noise Regulations by effectively eliminating excessive sound pressure levels, and offering strict control over signals with the simple Threshold and Max Volume controls, plus large LED indicators to let you know the safety of incoming signal levels at a glance.
The SL22 sports balanced, stereo XLR inputs and outputs, as well as block terminal connections for external fire alarm systems, control devices, and indicators, and lastly a 1/4" stereo headphone output which receives the same limiting protection as the XLR outputs. The rear of the unit features a security label for securing calibration settings and showing evidence of tampering, and the front panel utilizes a tamper-proof plate that helps to limit access to the settings, providing further security. The SL22 includes an AC power cord and an internal, switching power supply for globally accepted power input.
- Signal: when lit, this indicates that an audio signal is present but is not being limited.
- Alert: The Alert LED lights up when the signal level is within 6 dB of the threshold level at which the signal will begin to be limited. The LED acts as a warning, though at this point no limiting is applied, and the level set can be written in the white box underneath.
- Protect: When lit, this LED identifies that the level of the audio signal has passed the threshold and is being limited by the SL22. The level set can be written in the white box underneath.
- Dim: when activated, this attenuates the signal volume by 20 dB.
- Mute: when activated, this function attenuates the signal volume by 70 dB.
Alert and Protect are isolated solid state relays which switch on in conjunction with the corresponding LEDs on the front panel. In order to operate external power, a maximum of 24V at 50 mA should be applied across the terminals by the external indicator. Trigger operates in conjunction with the Protect LED indication on the front panel. It differs from the Alert and Protect connectors in that it supplies its own power of 5V and could be used to trigger an external warning device.
