Vello OCS-SM Overview
The 3' Vello Off-Camera TTL Flash Cord provides creative photographers with the ability to remotely fire Sony flashes with ADI / P-TTL capabilities and the Multi Interface Shoe. Removing the flash from the camera's hot shoe allows the photographer to create unique and dramatic lighting styles that are not possible with a traditional shoe-mounted strobe. This coiled cord measures 3', which is enough distance to accommodate hand-held lighting styles or when keeping the flash mounted on a compact flash bracket. Also, off-camera lighting reduces the harsh shadows commonly encountered with direct on-camera flashes and gives your photographs a more natural look.
One side of the TTL cable fits directly into the camera's hot shoe to ensure that all of the camera's exposure data is maintained. The other side can be attached to any stand, tripod, or device with a standard 1/4"-20 threaded stud or flash shoe mount, and the shoe has a locking knob to ensure your equipment is secure.

Stopped working
This flash cord stopped working after a couple of uses. I want to like Vello, but how can I trust them? Maybe this is just that rare instance of a product failing, yet the company is just fine. How can I tell?
Off-Camera Flash With Ease
I bought this cord with the sole purpose of being able to get the flash off the camera. Some of my shooting involves small items from a greater distance that my ring light won't accommodate. This cord allows me to shoot at the distance I need without the flash being on the camera so the light goes where I need it.
Weak and Causing Damage - Sony Cable
I used it for events, step-and-repeat arrivals, and similar. This cable flash shoe is weak, and the flash rattle. The flash shoe can cause Sony flash sensitive contacts to bend, and you will need to replace the flash shoe contacts part, a typical ship to repair. I had to send Profo A1X for Sony to replace the contacts (over $125 cost - lucky). I had a few of these cables, and all had or caused issues. I cannot depend on it, I do not recommend it, and I am surprised does not uphold the quality of products it sells.
Nice product, must alter exposure setting
The Vello TTL flash cord is physically perfect - good quality material and the connectors work as advertised. I am a complete novice using flash, so maybe my next comment is not news to those more experienced, or maybe I'm doing something wrong. I have a Sony A7 III and the brand new Godox TT685IIS on camera flash. When using the flash cord, the exposure setting has to be increased 2 stops in order to get the same exposure as when the flash is mounted directly on the camera. So far, that is not a problem. This is more a surprise to a novice than a complaint.
