Sontronics MERCURY Overview
Designed to be a true studio workhorse mic, the Sontronics Mercury is a flexible tube condenser microphone well suited for use on vocals and a wide variety of instruments. The mic features a variable pick-up pattern dial that allows you to sweep between cardioid, figure 8, and omnidirectional polar patternsallowing the mic to be used for multiple applications. Whether making solo, duo, or ensemble vocal recordings or capturing brass, strings, and woodwind instruments the Mercury is more than capable of handling it all; it's also well suited for use on piano, guitars, and harp.
The mic features an European-made 12AT7/ECC81 tube to provide the rich, warm character only a real valve can deliver, while a 75 Hz high-pass filter is on board to reduce unneeded low-end when necessary. The -10 dB pad can be engaged when you're recording louder sources, and the Mercury can handle up to 125 dB SPL.
