This Westcott 7.0' Parabolic Umbrella Bundle Promo by is comprised of 3 massive light shaping tools that have enough surface area to light a large space or large groups as well offering the unique wrap-around quality of light that will complement any type of portraiture. The white diffusion umbrella can reflect light in the traditional way or function as a large softbox by pumping the light through it. The black and white version yields classic soft, neutral light, while the silver version adds a crisp, higher contrast look and is great for long throw applications.
Photography discussions are full of desert island scenarios; "if you had to choose a single lens or if you had to choose a single light..." Well if you had to choose a single light shaping tool, you might do well to pick the white diffusion Westcott 7' White Diffusion Umbrella.
First of all it's a really big, broad light source that wraps light around your subject yielding clean highlights and rich open shadows. But due to the special shape of the umbrella there's a unique mix of soft enveloping light with the kind of crisp detail you only get from reflectors. This umbrella has a unique design structurally as well. The shaft is double walled for strength, but it tapers to 7mm to fit Elinchrom and other European flash heads. Instead of bendable metal, the 16 inner ribs are made of durable fiberglass.
This white diffusion is the softest version of the umbrella. Used in standard bounce mode, some of the light escapes through the material, slightly raising the ambient light level and lowering contrast while most of it is directed towards your subject. If you want a harder light, turn the umbrella around and aim the convex side at your subject and punch your light source through it. In both modes you can vary the light quality and output by changing the light-to-umbrella distance along the shaft.
You can also use this umbrella as a scrim over your subject to diffuse harsh light sources like the sun in situations like fashion catalog work outdoors or at the beach. Any way you use it, with the Westcott 7' Umbrella less is definitely more.
If you had to choose a single light shaping tool, you might do well to pick the silver Westcott 7' Silver Umbrella.
Insert the shaft into the tilter bracket below the Elinchrom head. Older models or other brands may require separate purchase of an inexpensive umbrella mount. Instead of bendable metal, the 16 inner ribs are made of durable fiberglass and the fixed black backing ensures that all of the light output is on your subject instead of through the umbrella. The silver interior is slightly cooler in color temperature than a white umbrella and tends to focus the light into a soft but narrower field. You can also vary the light-to-umbrella distance along the shaft for a harder or softer light. This silver version is ideal for throwing the light over a long distance. Two of them, for instance could light an entire auditorium or a large graduating class. With the Westcott 7' Silver Umbrella less is definitely more.

Westcott 7' Parabolic Reviews
Nice combo pack if you want to try out different looks
Got it to experiment with how different umbrella colors look, so this kit is perfect since it includes every single variation.
Great Umbrellas
Great deal for a trio of great umbrellas. Always been hesitant to stray away from the modifier brand I normally purchase but these didn't disappoint at all. The quality of light produced is excellent. Definitely like having the fiberglass ribs instead of the standard metal ribs. Great for in studio and can be used outdoors but would recommend a stable stand and some sandbags for outdoors.
Update
Love the function of this kit, but as the lock piece fell out after I put it back in, I'm on to a DIY fix, a cut straight razor with gaffer tape to cover the edge fits right in that slot, I just pin this to the Bag it came in
Umbrella Projects
Received this Kit and was going through to make sure all is functioning as it should on the last umbrella the lock tab was not was in the g bottom of the umbrella and I put back in place , ready to get some projects done with these , thank you
big light for big areas
I will use them to light Semi Tractor Trailers at Custom Truck Shows
Nice umbrella collection
The Westscott Parabolic Umbrella set is definitely a must. These large modifiers are huge. The light shot into these modifiers wraps around the subject. You can use these outside but I recommend having sandbags on your stand if you work alone without an assistant. A slight breeze will tip them over.
Beautiful Bundle At A Great Price!
I absolutely love, love, love the Westcott 7' Umbrellas! I am partial to the translucent and silver though all three, including the white, are wonderful and truly perform as advertised. I've had these modifiers on my wishlist for too long. I finally purchased the bundle a short while ago, and I am thrilled I did!!!
Great to improve lighting, light, rugged
This review specifically applies to the white translucent umbrella in this pack, which I use outdoors to diffuse sunlight when photographing wildflowers, as well as block wind. This is not an intended use of the umbrella - outdoors in high winds. However, I've had a lot of success with the umbrella over the last year. A number of white threads have worn out. These are the threads that attach the fabric to the ribs. This was easy to repair with a regular sewing needs and sturdy white thread. I've never had the original threads break in the studio, but have been blown away (pun intended) that so few of them failed outdoors in high winds where I was holding the umbrella down with both hands. Conclusion: yes, I'm using this in a way it wasn't intended, but it's performing better than I would have expected, and I would definitely purchase again. Of course, I won't have to purchase again because it's so easy to repair, and nothing else fails - the ribs, the pole, and the fabric have all held up well.
