Compatible with most systems and devices that have a USB or USB OTG port, the datAshur Personal2 uses a USB Type-A interface and the USB 3.0 standard, which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1, to deliver read speeds of up to 139 MB/s and write speeds of up to 43 MB/s. All data contained on this drive is encrypted in real time with the built-in hardware encryption and is protected even in the case of loss or theft. It automatically locks whenever it is unplugged from its host device or if power to the USB port is lost. It can also be set to lock after a predetermined amount of time.

Protection is further enhanced with independent user and admin PINs. If a user forgets their PIN, it can be unlocked using the admin PIN, which will clear the old user PIN and allow a new one to be set. A drive reset feature will clears both user and admin PINs, delete all data, and create a new randomly generated encryption key and allows the drive to be reused.

The iStorage datAshur Personal2 is unlocked using its integrated keypad and not a keyboard, so it is not vulnerable to software/hardware based key-loggers or brute force attacks, and your data is protected with a "Brute Force Hack Defense Mechanism." If both admin and user PINs have been created and a user enters an incorrect User PIN ten consecutive times, the brute force mechanism will trigger and the user PIN will be deleted. All data will remain and can only be accessed by the admin PIN. If this is entered incorrectly ten consecutive times, then both the user and admin PINs, the encryption key, and all data will be deleted and lost forever. The datAshur Personal2 will then revert back to factory default settings and will need to be formatted before it can be reused.
