ASUS PA278CV Reviews
Great Display
I bought this display for the colors and eye protection it offers. Unfortunately, I also found out that my eyes are sensitive to PWM using this display. It also came with just one stuck pixel but no backlight bleed issues. Daisy chain also works well as I am able to Daisy chain to the Asus PA79CV 4K monitor with 4K resolution easily. 1440p on Windows also might as well be 4K because of how sharp everything looks. Everything works as advertised, but the fact that it uses PWM makes the display hard to look at for me for extended periods of time. Eye care features do help, but it's not enough for me. If your eyes aren't sensitive to PWM this is a no brained and I highly recommend it. If they are, I recommend the 4K version of this display as it is easier to look at for long periods of time and you can get better resolution. Overall, this is an exceptional display except for its use of PWM.
Great monitor at a very reasonable price
We bought this display to replace an older NEC monitor that I'd used for photo work. I was very suprised at the color rendition even when used for photo editing. My wife uses is all day for teaching and Zoom meetings and is very happy with it. I liked it so much that I bought a second one to replace my 24 inch aged Samsung that I use for photo work. May get a third one for my other office. May not be for those doing critical photo editing or similar work but for me this was a great find.
Just a minor update
I cannot figure out how to update a longer review I wrote. I still love the monitor. But if you are planning on plugging in a usb to ethernet adapter into one of the usb ports on the monitor to get wired ethernet to your MacBook it does not appear to work. I tested the trendnet adapter I bought on a regular PC and Mac - works great. But will not bring internet to the macbook through one of the usb ports on the monitor.
Great monitor!
I picked this monitor after a lot of research. I'm a graphic designer so I was looking for great color and good size without breaking the budget, this hit every mark and more. It's incredibly easy to setup and looks great out of the box.
Great for a Intel MacBook Pro 2019
I am using this to replace an old Apple ThunderBold display with my MacBook pro 2019. The TB display had served me well for years and years, and it finally wore out and Apple folk said it could no longer be repaired. So let's start. This monitor is NOT an Apple TB display. While the resolution is the same and the ppi is slightly more, the clarity is just slightly less than what I was used to. After playing around with the built in settings I found a couple I really like. But if you look close you can see the pixels. However this monitor also did not cost $1000 like the TB display did!. So for the rest of my comments consider the price value. I am just not in a spot where I can spend $1300 for the Apple / LG 27 inch or $5000 for their high end monitor. Love to... Can't justify it. Here are the things I love. - This lower price USB C monitor is only one I could find that has 4 built in USB3 ports. If I was buying something new I wanted to get back to one cable connectivity to the MacBook. I powered up the display, plugged one end of the included usb c into the monitor and other into in my macbook, closed the cover, and it instantly went to clamshell mode. It also correctly recognized the monitor. - I love it has 4 full USB Ports. All appear to be able to power my various drives. I plugged the keyboard mouse into an old usb hub to save a space on the monitor. - I love there is one cable to connect to the MacBook and everything seems to work perfectly in clamshell mode. - The stand on this display is weighted and very high quality. All metal (steel or aluminum) construction. - I love that it is height adjustable. Apple has always missed this piece. On my old TB display i had actually cut a hole in the desktop and built a little shelf underneath to lower it. This display has a spring loaded up and down that works great. - I love the color and brightness. I tested it with a high res video and works great. Hard to believe it is less than $400. - The controls on the front are the usual annoying buttons they put on displays. You cannot control things like brightness from the control panel. No surprise on a display at this price point. But I do love the preset ProArt display options. There were two I really like. Things that might make you look at the more expensive models. - No built in camera obviously. - Speakers sound OK for 2 watt speakers. They are NOT the TB display bose designed speakers I had gotten used to. But I have a stereo system in my office so I'll connect to that. There is a stereo out on the display. - As you drag windows around there is an ever so slight amount of ghosting and strobing. It is very minimal. Again this is an under $400 display. Overal
