Not exactly 12 lbs.
This Celestron Counterweight is slightly smaller than the original Counterweight that came with Advanced AVX Mount set, which weighed exactly 12 lbs., and so this one weighs one lb. less, or roughly 11 lbs. Celestron folks can confirm it over the phone. Their product description inaccurately specifies it as 12 Pounds.
Just the thing to balance a bigger imaging setup.
Perfect. Weighs 1lb less than the one that comes with the Advanced VX mount. Now I can get a bigger astrograph to use on the mount.
Works fine - Interacts nicely with gravity.
I bought this counterweight to use with another manufacturer's mount. I needed to enlarge the hole slightly which I knew in advance. This is a good quality item and works just fine. Price was substantially less than the specific one for my mount. As with all counterweights, it reacts nicely with gravity as anticipated.
11 lb counterweight
I purchased this because I upgraded from a 6 reflector to a 8 reflector so a single counterweight was not enough to balance the new heavier ota, the price was good compared to others and I only had to add a couple inexpensive items to qualify for the free expedited shipping.
