MagiCue Studio Prompter Overview
The MagiCue Studio 19" Prompter Package with Pro Software is a complete, modular teleprompting solution supporting cameras ranging from mini DV to ENG. It includes a downloadable PC/Mac compatible MagiCue Pro software, which is suited for small studio setups and on-the-fly revisions. The modular design of the teleprompter allows for riser-less positioning, allowing the camera to remain stationery while letting the pad and hood unit be lowered into an optimal viewing position. A 60/40 beamsplitter glass clearly displays scrolling text from up to a 17 ft reading range.
The system includes a 19" LCD monitor offering HDMI, DVI, VGA, and Composite inputs and an HDMI output. It works with any standard size tripod supporting the required payload capacity. Assembly/disassembly is toolless and the system folds flat for convenient transport and storage.

MagiCue Studio Prompter Reviews
Does a great job
This works great. The assembly is somewhat awkward and it's heavy. You'll need a strong, stable tripod to put both this and a camera on. Customer service is easily and readily available by phone.
It gets the job done.
The lower riser plate really doesn't allow for much adjustment as the gap would indicate. If you have a tall camera body, remove the riser and it makes more sense. But the two pillars are fixed. And if you want to move the top plate screw it's a huge pain. Mine didn't come with the software or a link to download or the screws to attach the rail plate to the monitor. I spent nearly 2 weeks calling and emailing customer support before they finally got back with me.
Pretty good
Bought this prompter for a new studio and it's a good investment in all. Well made, very readable.
Prompter glass is fragile ... like glass
That may seem like an obvious assertion, that the prompter glass is fragile like glass, but I have not been rough on this glass and I have just ordered my second replacement glass which means this is my third piece of glass. The first time I had left the rig set-up and on the floor of my office (because the set-up isnt exactly user friendly) and I just grazed the unit with my leg as I walked by and the glass broke. Fine. Ill take the blame for that, even if I thought that broke too easily. But then I have really been careful and the second glass broke while I was just putting in the case. Maybe I am naive to think it should be a little more robust for a piece of production equipment but all of a sudden the lower price tag starts to look pretty pricey when I am now down another $350 in replacement glass. Also, while the unit did come with software, it was barely functional so we got some aftermarket software for about $99 which has been much better. Lastly, its nice to have the case but theres no way Id trust this as checked baggage, especially since the glass is so fragile. Even on my own truck I know now to be careful. I gave this three stars because it does work as needed, and it is still a pretty affordable way to get into a prompter system.
Very nice Prompters
Nice a cheaper.
A bit Larger and heavier than I thought
The unit is slightly larger than I thought...not a bad thing necessarily. But not a great choice for run and gun applications. Beware the the monitor has a backing plate that must be screwed on to mount the monitor on to the rail. But must be unscrewed to store in the case....silly. I altered the case to allow the plate to remain attached saving a cumbersome step in the setup. Case is well built and light... the retractable handle is a welcome feature. MagiCue software is straight forward and simple to use.
Decent prompter. Good value for the price.
I've had this prompter for almost 3 years now. It works, and it works well. Is it the in the top tier of prompters? No, but it's also not $2k. PROS: Clients appreciate the 19 monitor, especially older talent that can't see as well, and it also allows some people who usually wear glasses to read prompter without glasses. Great for longer distances from camera as well. I'd say I've used this 20-30' away from talent before. Monitor accepts VGA, DVI, and HDMI, so this can work with anyone's computer with many different teleprompter apps. I bought longer VGA & HDMI cables (10-15') so prompter operator can sit anywhere in the room. Case has kept everything intact for 3 years without incident. Is it a flight case? No, but it is adequate for typical local travel and the casters still work well after 3 years. The pull-up roller handle is solid. I give it a little extra care when traveling it than my pelican cases, but all-in-all a decent case for the low price. Set-up is easy, takes 10-15 minutes... even faster after you've done it a few times. CONS: The mirror glass is super delicate. I've had minor cracks in the glass, but only in 2 corners and it does not affect the reading of the text. I simply put some clear packing tape neatly over the cracks so they don't get worse. The software that comes with the prompter is very basic and glitchy. It'll work ok, but I recommend eventually getting another 3rd party app that has high ratings. I can't post the software I use here, but google it or go to App Store and you'll find several with high ratings for under $40. Blue knobs connecting hood to bracket eventually broke loose, but are still usable. I just put them in the same ziploc bag as the other hand screws & plates. Hood black material is thin nylon and isn't completely opaque. So I occasionally have to put a small piece of dark cloth (or duvatyne) over the top of the hood so surrounding overhead lights don't shine through. This is a decent prompter, not the best out there but certainly good for the price point.
Good quality and functionality, but monitor is old
Solid construction, had all the functionality I expected. Even the hard case was well made and sturdy. Put it on a lightning tripod using a new baseplate for balance, and it works great. The 19 monitor is old-tech, though, being 4:3 and not full HD resolution. Since the mirror is wider than the monitor, it reflects the floor on each side, so a modern widescreen unit would actually be a better match.
