As the name suggests, Minox designed their 10x44 X-active Binoculars to allow you to move fast, find game, and track itto be your go-to optic that you'll keep in your hunting kit year-round.
Minox eschews convention by utilizing a 44mm objective, instead of the much more common 42mm size. The larger lens provides performance increases across the board, including light-gathering capability to keep views bright in challenging conditions and a wider exit pupil and a longer eye relief than you typically see in 10x binoculars of this size. Proprietary M* anti-reflection multi-coatings on the lenses and phase-corrected roof prisms transmit bright and clear high-contrast images with true neutral color rendition and crisp clarity. From the wide field of view to the ultra-long eye relief, all of the X-active's performance enhancements are critical components for scanning the terrain while identifying your target and maintaining sight of it without it seeing or smelling you.
Utilizing an open-bridge/dual-hinge configuration helps to cut weight without sacrificing stability while providing plenty of room to wrap your hands completely around the optical tubes for a better grip, even if you need to use them one-handed. The chassis is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy wrapped in a protective armor that provides a slip-resistant gripespecially in cold and wet weather. The optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be resistant to internal fogging and also waterproof and submersible to 16'so the X-active will fair better than you if the binoculars tumble into a stream or pond. And if you do end up in a stream, tethered objective lens caps and one-piece ocular rainguard prevent their loss while allowing for fast reaction when opportunities present themselves.
Optical Performance
- Powerful 10x magnification allows for detailed observation of distant subjects
- Atypical 44mm objective lenses provide improved light-gathering capability versus the more common 42mm for better low light performance while helping to produce a wider and more comfortable exit pupil and eye relief
- Roof prism light path produces smaller optical tubes versus Porro prism design for more comfortable handling without compromising performance
- Phase-correcting prism coatings reduce or eliminate internal interference to correct ghosting and halos for better resolution and clarity
- Proprietary M* anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics improve light transmission to boost contrast and produce a neutral color rendition to make colors appear more true and natural
- Ultra-wide 66° apparent angle of view reduces the appearance of distracting hand shake and the need for the user to move their head to see the scene in front of them
- Spacious 346-foot field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
- Open-bridge, dual-hinge configuration offers stability and rigidity
- Bridge design provides more gripping surface for steadier handling
- Large knurled center focus wheel is easy to manipulate in cold and wet weather or when wearing gloves
