Sachtler Vario Ped 1-70 System 60 Overview
Supporting cameras and prompters weighing up to 127.9 lb, the System 60 Vario 1-70 from Sachtler allows a single camera operator to rapidly change camera positions and make camera moves on smooth interior and exterior surfaces. Designed to provide a comfortable eyeline for both seated and standing subjects, the system has a height range of 35. 4 to 67.7" with an extremely smooth height adjustment of 16.1" within the shot, powered by a pressurized air system charged by the included manual pump. Safely move the pedestal system over the floor in either standard or crab steering mode, and the wheel's cable guards help protect you from accidentally rolling over cables.
The Video 60 Plus with a weight of 8.4 kg /18.5 lb is extremely lightweight for an EFP fluid head. Even the flat base OB and studio model is only 9.4 kg / 21 lb. With a 150mm / 5.9" center of gravity height, it easily supports weights up to 65 kg /145 lb. Due to it's ergonomic, robust, squeeze-proof design, which ensures safe operation in any position.
The Video 60 Plus displays an 18 step counterbalance which can be adjusted easily and safely in 9 stages with the well known Sachtler dial. Fine-tuning is achieved via a half step function, which can either be engaged or disengaged. And for even more precise adjustment the balance plate has a sliding range of up to 115mm / 4.5", and up to 120mm / 4.7" for the studio version. This allows you to safely balance the camera at any tilt angle.
The Video 60 Plus fluid head has a modular design, allowing you to change it for different applications. Various configuration options are available like; 150mm Ball Base with the Touch & Go quick release system and camera plate 35 wedge or Flat Base with the V-shaped wedge plate, or you can even mount it on a Mitchell Mount base.
All you need to do is slip the camera into position, engage the mechanism, and the camera is locked firmly in place, when finished just disengage the latch and go. When you set up the camera for the next shot you still have all the original settings. Also features a safety lock lever that prevents inadvertent disengagement of the camera latch.

For smooth single-operator camera moves, crab or standard steering, or 16" in-shot height adjustment, the Sachtler Vario Ped 1-70 with Integrated Manual Pump is your go-to camera support for cameras and rigs weighing up to 154 lb. Suitable for use on smooth surfaces and the studio floor, the pedestal can be used as support on exteriors and interiors. With its integrated manual pump, you can even use the pedestal in remote locations where power can be difficult to source.
Grab the included steering ring to move the pedestal from position to position for rapid camera placement, and/or change the height throughout the 32" range. The pedestal supports both standard steering and crab movement, allowing you to create smooth tracking and dolly moves, and it has 16" of smooth vertical adjustment for in-shot camera moves. Narrow width allows you to move among tight spaces as well as through most doorways. The air inlet valve allows you to use an external pump, and the integrated pressure gauge lets you see the pressure remaining at a glance. The pedestal dolly has 5" wheels and cable guards to help prevent you from rolling over a cable ruining the shot, removable for easier transport and storage.
