Sunwayfoto PCLO-R5 Reviews
Good price: but-
The prices on L brackets can be outrageous. I have a Sunwayfot L bracket for my R5 w/grip and it has performed well. I needed the L bracket for the R5 wo grip for tracked astro work. The bracket came in today. I was attaching, and in tightening the alignment pin screw the head twisted off. I reduces trust overall
Best L bracket
The Sunwayfoto L bracket, is, IMO, the best one for money. It is orders of magnitude less money than the others, but equal in quality and functionality. I love the fact that they added level glasses to both the horizontal and vertical axises, but the price is the same.
Normally a 5, but...........
For some reason my L-bracket keeps unscrewing itself from my R5 and falling off! I never had a problem with the one for my 5d4. I can only assume that the screw on this one doesn't quite fit tight enough and any vibrations will allow it to unscrew itself. Either some blue Loc-tite or Teflon (pipe) tape will fix it, but why should I need it? I do love the little touches like the levels that are built into both the horizontal and vertical bars. Over-all I would have given it a 5 star rating, except for my little drop-out issue.
Doesn't all lcd to swivel
Overall this it l-bracket is flimsy. I don't feel like it is going to keep my R5 safe. plan to return and get something else.
Just two little notes
The alignment tab on this is a bit of a pain. Finding the hole, lining it up and getting everything locked down could be better. The other thing to consider is that the LCD is blocked from extended use when the L-Bracket is in place. Yes, the LCD will swing out and flip but it won't tilt while extended due to the L-Bracket. That would be the case for ANY L-Bracket.
Like the price and bubble levels
Has bubble levels for all directions. Attaches securely with pin and screw mount to my EOS R6 Much lower price than RRS. Only short fall is the 1/4-20 screw hole is not on center like my EOS 60D RRS L-Bracket. So if you mount to a 2nd plate for gimbal or other tripod mount the camera is no longer on center line.
Why pay more?
I see no reason to pay hundreds of dollars for an L bracket when Sunwayfoto has me covered. The one problem I've run into was that sometimes the mounting screw unscrewed itself and came off--which I then heard as it clattered onto a hard surface. It could be a problem if it came off on a soft surface, however. I fixed it by putting some BLUE (do NOT use red) Locktite on the screw threads and mounting the bracket. I shoot from a tripod pretty frequently, so I leave the bracket on my camera all the time.
It fits!
I've used the Sunwayfoto L-Bracket for the 6D Mark II, which worked great! But I needed a new one for the R6 I upgraded to a while back. I was pleased to find that this bracket was an upgrade from the last one. there are now built-in levels and a rubber pad around the mounting screw to prevent it from damaging the camera body. The best new feature is the added metal piece that goes into another hole on the bottom of the R6; this prevents the weight of the lens from slowly pulling down the camera when it's turned vertically.
