Vallerret Markhof V3 Reviews
Warm, yet still allows you to use camera buttons.
The gloves are well made, and the fit is excellent. Most importantly, they are warm and the ability to pop fingertips out is a huge plus. One thing that makes me crazy with modern cameras is the multi point selector wheel with the Ok button in the middle. It is impossible with normal gloves to push that button. However, these gloves with allowing just a tiny bit of your finger out, makes it a cinch and if your fingertips get cold, put them back in the glove. The hole is well stitched and doesn't let much cold in either.
Great Gloves
These gloves are just what I've been looking for. They seem to run true to size and while a little bulky, they are actually easy to use. Plus they keep your hands warm (although I haven't tried them in extremely cold weather yet).
I lost the metal piece with the brand name at third use.
In terms of how effective they are to protect my hands against cold, which is the purpose, I do not have complaints. It is clear to me that these are not intended to extremely cold temperatures, but everyone reacts different to cold and for me they are ok. I have used these gloves in Canada at temperatures of -10C, with no issues. Now, when it is colder, I change my gloves to Tinden, which are warmer. My complaint to these gloves, and maybe to all of the Vallerret series is about the metal piece with the brand name. These gloves are intended to be rough and stand hard use in cold, nature, etc. Yesterday after using them in normal use, I noticed that I had a couple of holes on the top of my left hand glove. Then, I realized that for some reason I had lost the metal piece with the brand name. Having gloves that look nice is important, and I guess that is why Vallerret decorates them with this metal piece. However, I rather prefer not to have two holes on top of my gloves as part of that decoration. Therefore, Vallerret should re-think how to promote their brand without impacting the quality of their gloves.
Warm and functional
I had written a review previously and my one complaint was the strength of the thumb flap magnets. Since then, after wearing the gloves extensively, the thick velour(?) material on the thumb flaps have creased enough that the magnets connect much better. Love these gloves.
magnets are not strong enough
First of all, as others have said, these run small. I normally take XL, but had to return for XXL. But then, when I started using them, I found that the magnets are not strong enough to hold the fingertips back, so the fabric pieces are constantly getting in the way. It the magnets worked, or they were velcro or snaps that worked, these would be nice gloves.
My hands stayed warm
The only downside to the gloves I found was that the small size was still a little large for my fingertips. With that said, the memory card holder on the back is large enough to hold hand warmers, so I was able to keep my fingers double warm. I have only used them once, but it was in subzero weather. My hands/fingers stayed warm.
Great Gloves
At first, I thought medium size would be too small, but it is fine for me. The finger openers work fine. I store the gloves with the fingertips held open in order to keep them flexible.
Must have for astrophotography
On a cold night, my fingers freeze before I can accomplish a polar alignment. These gloves keep my hand warm while allowing me to use my opposing find and thumb to manipulate the camera, the iPad, and the wedge!
