Asustor Xpanstor 4 External HDD/SSD Overview
The Xpanstor 4-Bay NAS Storage Capacity Expander from ASUSTOR may be used to expand the capacity of your NAS and grow your workflow, or use it as a DAS (Direct-attached Storage) solution on your PC. It features four 3.5/2.5" SATA III drive bays and connects to your host system or NAS using its 10 Gb/s USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, while remaining backward compatible with 5 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 1. An internal 120mm fan helps keep things running cool and automatically adjusts itself according to hard drive temperatures, while support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10 offers performance, data redundancy, or a combination of both. For those who do not require a RAID, JBOD and Single allow each drive to be utilized individually.
Faster and Easier
The Xpanstor 4 adopts a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 interface and transfers files even faster with a bandwidth of up to 10 Gb/s. The Xpanstor is also backward compatible with ASUSTOR NAS devices that support USB 3.2 Gen 1 and will operate at the 5 Gbps maximum those devices support. Use the Xpanstor to expand the capacity of your NAS to grow your workflow as needed.
MyArchive Welcome!
The Xpanstor 4 supports MyArchive cold storage technology. Directly insert a MyArchive hard drive into an available bay to access data, making data access extremely convenient. Use MyArchive to also set up schedules for backing up with automatic mounting and unmounting, making your backups simpler and more convenient.
Sleeps When Your NAS Sleeps
When a connected NAS enters sleep mode or shuts down, the Xpanstor will enter sleep mode simultaneously to save energy and hardware longevity. LED brightness in the Xpanstor 4 also synchronizes with your NAS, ensuring no bright lights when your NAS is off.
Cool and Quiet
The internal fan found inside the Xpanstor 4 automatically adjusts its speed according to hard drive temperatures and maintains a balance between sound and performance.
Stable USB Connection
The Xpanstor 4 has a specially designed USB-C connector and cable. The cable included with your Xpanstor 4 locks in with your expansion unit with two screws on each side of the cable to lock it into the expansion unit to prevent it from being accidentally disconnected. The included USB cable is not proprietary and replaceable, ensuring greater longevity and lower e-waste.
PC Friendly
The Xpanstor 4 also works well as a DAS solution. Plug an Xpanstor into a computer to access up to four independent drives that can be used by a Windows, Mac, or Linux machine for applications that include, but are not limited to storage, drive cloning, and diagnostics.
