BHPV Tilta 4 x 4" Carbon Fiber Matte Box with ND Filter Kit

This B&H Kit includes the Tilta 4 x 4" Carbon Fiber Matte Box from ikan and one Tiffen 0.6 ND filter . This kit provides you with a carbon fiber matte box with a rich feature set and a neutral density filter for exposure control. The matte box mounts onto lightweight 15mm support rods and features a swing away design. This allows you to move the matte box out of the way during lens changes, without having to remove the matte box from the support rods. The lightweight carbon fiber construction keeps the weight down, while still being strong enough to support a top flag (eyebrow) and side flags for lens flare control. The matte box also comes with 80, 90, 114, and 134mm lens adapters, as well as "nun's knickers" to prevent light leak from behind the lens.

The included 0.6 ND filter provides an even reduction of light by two stops. This means that if you were shooting at an f5.6 without a filter, with the included ND filter, you would set your aperture to f2.8 to maintain the same exposure. A wider aperture setting results in less depth of field, which helps you achieve a more cinematic look. The filter can also be used during very bright days to bring down your exposure without adjusting your shutter speed or closing your aperture down so far that it degrades the image. The filter is designed with the ND material sandwiched between two layers of glass. This provides excellent consistency and unlike filters that mix the filter effect in the glass itself, you can have this filter polished to remove light scratches without affecting the density of the filter. This can save you the cost of replacing the filter.

  The Tilta 4x4 Carbon Fiber Matte Box is a 4 x 4 matte box that features carbon fiber and aluminum construction that makes it lightweight and durable. The matte box will work with lenses up to 100 mm in diameter. It features one fixed and one rotating 4 x 4 filter stage and mounts onto lightweight 15mm rods. The matte box incorporates a swing-away design for rapid lens changes.
  
  The included removable top and side flags can be precisely set and locked to block stray light from flaring your lens. The included anti-reflection rings protect your image by blocking stray light behind the camera bouncing off of filters in the matte box and flaring your image.

  Lightweight Construction

  The matte box itself is made out of carbon fiber with aluminum used for the support structure. This provides a lightweight yet sturdy unit that is appropriate for shooting hand-held or with a stabilizer rig, when every ounce counts.

  Swing Away Design

  The swing-away design allows you to quickly move the matte box out of the way to check or change lenses, without having to remove the matte box from the support rods. This way you don't have to hand off the matte box to someone else, hold it under an arm or between your knees, or hang it under the rods while you work, greatly speeding your workflow and reducing the chance of dropping the matte box or having a filter tray fall out.

  Top & Side Flags

  The removable top and side flags provide you additional flare control and attach to the matte box with a lockable hinged assembly. This allows you to precisely set your flags to match the edge of frame for different lenses and lock them in place so that they don't move during the shot.

  Anti-Reflection Inserts

  The three included anti-reflection inserts work with lenses with an outer diameter of 72, 80, and 90 mm. They provide a light-tight seal so that light from behind the camera cannot leak through where the lens joins the matte box and reflect off filters to flare your image. When you are using lenses with outer diameters other than 72, 80, and 90 mm or with lenses that have excessive focus travel it is recommended to use the cloth "nun's knickers" to prevent light leaks.

• Tiffen 4 x 4" Neutral Density 0.6 Filter

  The Tiffen 4 x 4" ND 0.6 Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 2 stop exposure reduction. This 0.6 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.
  
  This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 4" / 101.6 x 101.6mm.

  0.6 solid ND filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.

  Providing a 2 stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

  Filter does not affect coloration of the image and is ideal for use with other filters.
