Optimized for free-field reference applications and featuring second-gen enhancements, the Earthworks M23 G2 is an omnidirectional, small-diaphragm condenser microphone designed for calibration and measurement duties. With carefully selected circuitry designed to ensure extremely low noise and distortion and a high max SPL of 140 dB, the M23 G2 delivers precise results.
The M23 G2 features a highly compact design, which is an inch and a half shorter than the G1 version. The frequency range is extremely wide, with flat-frequency capture from 5 Hz to 23 kHz. The mic is constructed from durable stainless steel, which sports an IP54 rating, making it safe in light rain or dirty environments, such as exterior movie sets. The M23 G2 includes a carrying case, a mic clip, an ADP1 calibrator adapter, a windscreen, and a mic thread adapter.
Some devices, such as wireless transmitters, can also supply lower voltages, like 12V (known as P12). This can be a good way to increase wireless transmitter battery life, especially when using alkaline batteries. At 12V, M23 G2’s max SPL is reduced to 133 dB SPL, but audio performance is not otherwise affected.
- The -3 dB low-frequency cutoff will be 3 Hz or lower
- The -3 dB high-frequency cutoff will be at least 30 kHz
