Electro-Harmonix resurrects a cult-classic distortion circuit with expanded control in the Hell Melter Advanced Distortion Pedal, an all-analog high-gain distortion effect that will get you from timid to chainsaw heavy-metal tones in an instant. Not only does Hell Melter offer the in-your-face distortion sound that has been used by countless artists such as Entombed and My Bloody Valentine, this new iteration broadens the horizons of the original by providing more open clipping options and an active EQ section, and boosts the internal voltage for increased headroom, less compression, and more attack.

The expanded control set includes independent Gain and Level controls, as well as a dry level for blending your input signal and getting an improved low end when used with a bass or blending in other distorted tones. The handy noise-gate control allows you to eliminate unwanted hum by adjusting the noise floor, effectively muting the output whenever the input is below the set threshold. This guitar pedal includes a 9V power supply to get you started.

In Normal mode, you will get the classic vintage chainsaw distortion sound that has made this distortion circuit famous. In Burn mode, a custom, modernized distortion sound is employed, utilizing higher voltage rails and alternative clipping options. This results in a less compressed, more open distortion sound with a more pronounced attack.

The trimmer controls additional volume added when Boost Mode is active. Accessed via 4 screws on the back plate of the pedal, you can turn the trimmer clockwise with a small flathead screwdriver to increase the volume boost, or turn it to the minimum position to eliminate any volume boosting during Boost Mode use.

The High and Low knobs provide an active boost or cut to the high and low frequencies respectively, while the middle position leaves them flat. For the mids, you get true parametric control, with the option to adjust both active boosting/cutting levels plus the mid frequency you wish to boost or cut.
