Foma Fomaspeed Variant 312 Matte Overview
Flexible and versatile, this 25-sheet box of 11 x 14" Fomaspeed Variant 312 VC RC Paper from Foma features a matte finish along with an easy-to-handle resin-coated base. Its variable contrast designation permits working with multigrade filters for adjusting contrast during printing, to suit a range of negative densities, and the paper supports a rich halftone scale with bright whites and deep blacks. The paper also features a silver chlorobromide emulsion, which provides a neutral to medium-warm tone depending on processing techniques, and the paper is receptive to both direct and indirect toning methods.

Foma Fomaspeed Variant 312 Matte Reviews
Excellent!!!
Excellent!!! I'll buy it again!!!
great for paper negative
I use this paper for my homemade pinhole camera, and it develops evenly, dries fast
Lovely portrait paper
This paper has such a nice surface and look to it. I use this mostly for portrait work and the results have been gorgeous. It takes a little bit to get a feel for which side has the emulsion layer, but once you learn it's easy to tell.
Bought some for a pinhole camera experiment.
Loading my empty Monster beverage can pinhole camera (for a sun tracking experiment) in a darkened room was somewhat tricky. The photo sensitive side of this paper is just slightly glossy so it's hard to feel the correct side to expose. Interesting that this brand comes from Czechoslovakia.
Great photo paper for pinhole photography
I started using this photo paper for black & white pinhole photography when I saw a recommendation for it. It has a satiny matte finish and produces adequate results. After developing, it washes in water and dries easily by hanging or laying flat.
Perfect fit!
I needed film paper for a pinhole camera I made for a photography assignment and this was it! While my classmates had to cut down their sheets, mine was the perfect size and it worked well. I wished the price was a little lower but what can you do, this brand was the cheapest compared to similar film paper.
Won't use it again
I have tried Foma papers and films in an attempt to save money but I haven't been happy with them at all. Film I have bought has had problems with the emulsion( I was told they admitted to production problems) and the papers also had coating problems, streaks, and gaps in the emulsion. I will never use again. You get what you pay for
An alternative to Ilford Multigrade Enlarging paper.
I've used Multigrade paper for decades. Recently, there have been two price increases by Ilford. I tried this paper as a possible replacement. It works as well as Ilford for making working prints. I still used Multigrade for exhibit and framed black & white prints, but this paper is used for initial printing and for pictures I will scan.
