The Classic Spring Tank Sound

The LIGHT Pedal�s central component and the main sound source is a traditional spring reverb tank, consisting of three major elements�the input transducer (spring exciter), the springs, and the output transducer (pickup). There can be a lot of complexity in the spring�s movement patterns during the reverberation process, especially near the input transducer.

However, due to the spring's elasticity, by the time vibrations have reached the output transducer, we mostly hear the spring�s own resonant frequencies, which is why all spring reverbs have such a particular jangly, metallic sound. The LIGHT Pedal�s spring output (the spring knob) offers a classic high-quality spring reverb sound with the option to adjust the spring drip (the drive knob) and the tone of the output signal (the tone knob).

The Optical Spring Reverb Sound

To capture the full range of the spring�s vibrations, the LIGHT Pedal uses multiple sets of special infrared optical sensors that act as photoelectric pickups. Each set of IR sensors is directed at a different points on the moving spring�s surface.

The optical sensors detect much finer movements compared to the output transducer. This makes longer decays possible and a more detailed frequency response, including subharmonics and overtones. Additionally, the pedal can achieve amazing modulation and tremolo effects by scrolling through the optical sensors or by switching them on and off (optical effects).

Gate + Effect Control

In any one of the 6 effect modes, you can make the CTRL value react to the instrument�s input signal. This is achieved by turning the Gate knob down while pressing and holding the pedal�s Footswitch.

Once this is done, the tremolo rate will slow down as soon as an input signal is detected. Alternatively, you can make the tremolo rate speed up with each strum by turning the Gate knob up. This technique can be applied to any of the pedal's six effect modes, including Optical mode.

Shock Sensor

It's well known that spring reverb units can be sensitive to shaking stages, heavying stomping, and earthquakes. That's why the LIGHT Pedal features a special shock-sensor mode.

Powered by an accelerometer chip, the LIGHT Pedal can detect sudden physical impacts (measued as G-forces) and allows you to select the response (Off, Soft, and Hard) of the wet signal output whenever the pedal senses a blow or shaking motion.

Expression Input

The LIGHT Pedal features an expression input for 1/4" TS and TRS plugs, and is compatible with all expression pedal types. This input is also sensitive to CV signals, capable of detecting between 0 and +3.3V.

By default, the expression input is assigned to the CTRL knob. You can assign the expression control to the Spring, Optical, Drive, and Gate knobs as well.
