iOptron HAE16C Overview
Small and light but capable of supporting 18 pounds of gear with no counterweight, the HAE16C Strain Wave Alt-Az/EQ Mount from iOptron offers precise go-to tracking in a highly portable form factor. The mount employs strain wave gearing for the right ascension axis and worm gearing for the declination. Power and USB cables plug in to the non-moving base and saddle to avoid tangling and a friction brake on the RA axis provides a safe, controlled stop even if the mount loses power. Install an optional counterweight and shaft and the OTA and accessories capacity rises to 26.5 pounds. Upgradeable firmware, built-in Wi-Fi, and a zero position locating feature make the HAE16C a solid choice for observation and imaging.
