Pearl Microphone Labs CC22 Overview
This matched pair of CC22 mics from Pearl Microphone Labs provides musicians, producers, and engineers two large-diaphragm condenser microphones equipped with cardioid polar patterns designed for professional studio recording. At the heart of the CC22 lies the rubber-fitted capsule based on the pearl 2800, a unique rectangular-shaped condenser capsule that offers an extremely smooth off-axis response, detailed sound reproduction, and very-low self noise.
The tall and narrow capsule gives the CC22 a distinctive sonic signature, similar in some ways to a ribbon microphone. Detailed transient reproduction and smooth off-axis response makes the 22 series an excellent choice for orchestral and choral recordings, but it also performs well on other transient-rich sources, such as acoustic guitar or piano. The transformerless circuitry ensures a clear, natural sound and very low noise. Arguably the most applicable version of the series, the CC22's cardioid polar pattern helps to focus audio capture on the sound source in front of the mic, reducing bleed from other sources for more isolated recordings. This matched pair is suitable for a wide variety of stereo recording applications.
Each microphone features a gold-plated XLR connector, requires 48V phantom power, and includes a rubber shockmount; a wooden case for the set is also supplied. The CC22 is finished in piano-black ED lacquer with a golden logo, ring, and engraved model number.
