Compact Clamshell Design

Clamshell body enables easy insertion and removal of discs in narrow spaces. Plus, the lightweight body is about the size of a CD case and weighs just 0.5 pounds.

Easy Connectivity

A USB-A cable and USB-A to C adapter cable are included, allowing for easy connections to a range of hosts.

Manual Access

A manual access lever allows you to open the lid and remove the disc manually when you forget to eject it, without using any special tools or having to turn the power on.

PureRead3+

If read errors caused by scratches or fingerprints occur when importing or ripping audio CDs, using this function allows for automatic detection of the disc state, adjustment of the read method using an original algorithm, and then re-reading of the disc. This minimizes error data interpolation.

Displaying PureRead Mode

With no disc inserted, press and hold the open button for at least two seconds. The busy indicator flashes, and the current PureRead mode setting is displayed. You can check the mode in advance without launching the Drive Utility on your computer.

Custom Eco Functionality

If the drive does not receive any commands or instructions for operation from the computer for a specified period, the Custom Eco function will reduce the drive's power consumption, such as by stopping the disc from rotating or reducing the disc rotation speed. Shortening this specified period will make the drive enter the power saving mode earlier.

Advanced Quiet Drive

When listening to an audio CD or watching a movie on BD or DVD, this function reduces the rotation speed of the disc appropriately, allowing you to focus on what you're listening to. Plus, multiple modes allow you to optimize performance to suit different applications.

• The default quiet mode reduces rotational speed to avoid operational and fan noise but may increase speed during high quality video playback
• Persistent quiet mode reduces rotational speed at all times
• Performance mode prioritizes recording and reading speed over sound dampening, but may slow rotational speed when watching movie titles or playing audio CDs

AC Adapter Ready

This product operates using power supplied via bus power. However, you may need to power the device by connecting a Pioneer DCA-003 AC adapter, available separately. This adapter may be required in the following cases:

• When the optical drive does not operate properly, such as when power is not supplied or when discs are not recognized
• When the drive is used together with other USB devices
• When using the BDR-XD08S with a USB hub

OS Compatibility

This device is compatible with Windows 8.1 and later and macOS 10.11 and later.

Processor and Memory

A 2.66 MHz Intel Core 2 Duo E6750, 2.1 GHz AMD Phenom 9450, or faster processor is required; 2GB of RAM is required for Blu-ray playback; at least 3GB of RAM is recommended for editing HD video.

Hard Disk Space

A minimum of 5GB of available space is required. When creating Quadruple Layer (QL) Blu-ray Discs, 128GB or more of available space is required.

Graphics

Intel G45, NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT, AMD Radeon HD2600, or faster graphics are required.

Display

An HDCP-compliant display is required for Blu-ray playback; a 1024 x 768 minimum display resolution is supported.

Please note, HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) support is required only for playback of high-definition copy-protected content. For such content, the connection between the host and the display device must be made using a compatible DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort cable.
