With a form and tone well suited for event video shoots, indie film production, TV and documentary shooting, court room depositions, and more, the Sony ECM-674 shotgun microphone offers strong, clean output signal for recording with camcorders, multitrack field recorders, and portable audio recorders.

The ECM-674 features a supercardioid polar pattern for excellent directivity and minimal noise at the off-axis sections of the capsule, resulting in intelligible voice pickup even in noisy environments. The microphone's wide, flat frequency response yields smooth, accurate signal reproduction with crisp detail and minimal coloration.

The ECM-674 can be powered with a single AA battery (available separately) or 40 to 52 VDC phantom power, making it compatible with a variety of consumer and professional devices. It includes microphone spacers and a mic holder to accommodate camera-mount and stand-mount configurations.

Lightweight Design The ECM-674 has been designed as a highly directional and lightweight shotgun microphone, measuring 10.6" in length and weighing 6.5 ounces to ensure good balance even when mounted on compact camcorders. Smooth Frequency Response With its flat and wide frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, the ECM-674 provides sound reproduction that is smooth and natural. High Sensitivity The ECM-674 offers an excellent sensitivity of -36 dB and low self-noise level of less than 17 dB SPL, allowing the microphone to be used for clear voice capture even in noisy environments. Onboard Low-Cut Filter The onboard two-position (M, V) low-cut switch provides users with a simple method of reducing the effects of undesired ambient noise such as rumble. AA Battery or Phantom Powered The two-way powering capability allows the ECM-674 to be driven by 40 to 52 VDC phantom power or a single AA battery, making it suitable for both camcorder mounting and many other sound-gathering applications. Built-In Battery Liquid Leakage Protection Circuit Considering that old batteries can leak and damage the equipment they power, the ECM-674 prevents this by continually detecting the output voltage of the battery and shutting off the power supplied to the electric circuit whenever the voltage drops beneath a certain threshold. The Auray DUSM-1 Universal Shockmount features a four-point suspension to accommodate shotgun and other cylindrical microphones measuring 0.74-0.98" (19-25mm) in diameter. The shockmount is easily angled with its rubberized adjustment knob. The Auray Universal Microphone Pistol Grip is a handheld grip that features an ergonomic cushioned handle. This grip is great in "run & gun" situations in which a boom pole would be cumbersome, and in video scenarios in which the cameraman is also responsible for audio recording. The grip can be held with one hand, as opposed to a boom pole which requires two. It also provides the option of being able to record audio from a different direction than the camera is pointing, an advantage over camera mounting the mic. Furthermore, having the mic mounted off the camera prevents it from picking up motor noise from the lens focusing.

In addition, the grip features standard 3/8" threads on both ends. This allows you to attach your shotgun mic (with shockmount) to one end of the grip and mount the other end to a boom pole. This gives you the flexibility of being able to quickly detach the pistol grip and the attached shotgun mic from the boom, an option that can come in handy for entering areas that are too small for a boom pole.
