The UTX-B40 is backward-compatible with Sony WL-800 and UWP Series systems.
High-Quality Sound with Digital Audio Processing
The ECM-V1BMP lavalier mic is optimized for capturing clear and intelligible speech. This omnidirectional mic picks up sound from every direction, allowing for a variety of placement options and freedom of movement.
Automatic NFC Sync Mode
Unlike purely digital systems, the UTX-B40 allows you to send a single mic to multiple cameras for broadcast applications. Fast NFC communication makes setup for multiple receivers a breeze.
Auto-Gain Mode to Prevent Mic Distortion
The +15 dB Gain Volume-Boost mode boosts the mic gain by 15 dB to compensate for situations when the mic is not close enough to the presenters mouth and the audio level is insufficient.
Manual input-level setting is also available.

Sony UTX-B40 Reviews
Doesn't work with Countryman B3 for Sony
Don't make the same mistake I did. This newly designed transmitter is nice in a lot of ways but the Mic port is made for a Lav with a longer 3.5mm stem than the one on the Countryman B3. This results on a LOT of static because the mic doesn't make a solid connection. I've tried this with different Countryman B3's and different UTX-B40 transmitters and the results are always the same. Unfortunately the only way to fix this problem is to have your Countryman B3 rewired with a longer 3.5mm jack.
Great sound, Far Range, Tough Build
Bought these to pair to my Sony URX-PO3D dual receiver. They synced up immediately. I added the Countryman EMW Lavs w/ Sony connectors and the sound is fantastic. The body pack is smaller than any other I've had before, but it is very solid. I put it on and walked outside the building and across the parking lot - solid signal. This will be my go-to audio setup for a long time!
Wireless Microphones for Sony
I purchased 2 UTX-M40 TRANSMITTERS, 1 URX-P03D receiver and an extra ECM-V1BMP for my Sony RX10M3/RX100M7 cameras. The setup works great for 4K videos using the 3.5mm output. The microphones focus on the subjects with very little background. I am very happy with this setup as the RX100M7 is very portable when using a belt pouch for the receiver.
Smaller, Lighter, and more Pro look
Im an owner of a few older UWP-D models but this has a different feel when you look at it. Its a little bit smaller than the older, the antenna is a little bit more protected and also, the unit is 24g lighter than the older one. It has a few upgrades like auto-gain, + 15 dB sensibility boost the screen turn off by it self using less battery than the older. Im really happy with it and now Im going to upgrade my older models for this one.
