TC Electronic IMPULSE IR Overview
Delivering powerful yet intuitive IR functionality in a supremely compact pedal, the Impulse IR Loader from TC Electronic is versatile tool for any guitar or bass pedalboard. Sporting 99 customizable IR slots with 20 built-in cab sims, including 12 official Celestion IRs, you can take a warehouse of killer gear with you anywhere.
With the convenient Impulse app or a USB-equipped computer, you can easily drag and drop your own IRs into this pedal, with support for extralong 200 ms IR samples, 44.1, 48, and 96 kHz sampling rates, and 16- to 32-bit floating point PCM formats. Use A/B mode to toggle seamlessly between two different IRs on the fly for comparisons or performances. The intuitive controls couldn't be simpler to use, with Output level, next IR, and previous IR controls. With true bypass, you maintain your pure tone detail when bypassing the pedal.
TC Electronic created these IRs using both an amp and a cab, in order to give you that particular sound through a PA system or at home when recording direct through an audio interface. Whatever the case, make sure to place the Impulse IR Loader after your drive pedals in the signal chain to transform your pedalboard into a DI ready guitar rig.
If you prefer to use Impulse IR Loader as a traditional effects pedal, you can set it to true bypass mode and simply punch it in or out when hitting the footswitch. True bypass switching ensures that it can take a permanent residence on your board without affecting your tone when not in use. To toggle the two modes on the fly during performance, simply press and hold the footswitch for a few seconds.
