Vello ESP Overview
The ESP-DSLR Eyecup from Vello is a replacement eyepiece for select Pentax cameras that provides a large, oval eyecup for more comfortable viewing through the viewfinder. The large shape of the eyecup improves the image quality in the viewfinder by sealing out extraneous light. It can rotate 360° to accommodate both the left and right eye and horizontal and vertical shooting positions. The eyecup extends from the viewfinder, blocking stray light and providing a clearer image. The soft yet durable rubber design is comfortable for those who do not wear eyeglasses and will not scratch or damage the glasses of those who do. It mounts easily and securely on the camera's viewfinder.

The eyecup helps.
The ESP-DSLR Eyecup helped me as I usually prefer using the viewfinder. It helped block out the light and made it easier to the the viewfinder with glasses on. It fit my K-x Pentax.

Surprisingly good
Even with glasses on, this still helps with blocking light from the viewer, and doesn't smudge the glasses at all. Plus the ability to shift the eyecup position out of the way.

The factory Pentax K1 eyepiece rubber died pretty quick. This one cuts glare nicely.
Flimsy rubber cracked. Cannot repair.
After only a couple of uses, the rubber cracked, rendering it useless. Waste of money.

As stated in my review from June, I had problems with four of the eye cups. To my surprise, someone from Vello contacted me to discuss the issue. It appeared there had been an issue with the mold for the eyecup and because Pentax isn't as widely used, it took longer for the company to notice a problem. Vello replaced the eye cups again. I've been using the eye cup since I received them. I've had no issue so far. The other cups lasted no more than a day or two, it's been over 2 months since I've received them. I'm happy with the cups and even happier that Vello not only took notice of my issue, but rectified it quickly. I'm even happier to see a company support Pentax. I'll keep trying their products as long as they continue to support Pentax. (4 stars only due to limited time use otherwise I'd go 5)

I had purchased a Vello ESP-DSLR eye-cup years ago for my Pentax. Sadly I lost it in the grass after a few months and even more sadly, replaced it with a cheaper wannabe from another manufacture. Do NOT be fooled by price. B$H had the best price for the Vello and the Vello ESP-DSLR is built to last, unlike the cheaper replacement I purchased elsewhere, which had torn in a week and was useless. If you shoot outside an eye-cup can help you realize your composition much better by removing the side glare of the sun, or city lights for night shooting. Quality product. I know it sounds like a lot of money for a small piece of plastic and rubber, but once you have one, you will always want one. Note, this eye-cup is rather easy to slip on and thusly could snag clothing and pop off, just so you know. Since mine is never removed I put a small dab of Rubber cement on one inside edge. It can still be removed if needed but is unlikely to fall off on its own. And this may only be an issue when on a Pentax. I also put a small amount of bright orange paint on the edge of the plastic to make it easier to find should I lose it again :)
