Voice Technologies VT500X Overview
Confidently mic up your talent in the most challenging production environments with the VT500X Extreme Necklace Microphone from Voice Technologies. Originally developed to handle the demanding requirements of outdoor reality television, this lightweight rubber necklace mic is comfortable to wear and features a click fastener that allows the necklace to quickly fit on and stay on, no matter where the action goes. A storage box is supplied; a foam windscreen and fur windshield are both available separately.

In extreme shooting situations where the on-camera talent can go anywhere or do anything, the VT500X Necklace helps ensure you hear it all. Impervious to tropical weather, salt water, and dust, the mic is IPX-8 waterproof (underwater for up to 24 hours at a depth of 3.3') and features robust and impact-resistant injection molding and a rugged 4.9' cable that is molded directly to the capsule housing, making it virtually impossible to pull out.
Reliable Results
The VT500X Necklace uses an electret-condenser capsule sporting a wide 40 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range with a soft presence boost in the 8 to 16 dB band for additional clarity. The capsule's omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound in a 360° radius, helping to provide consistent levels even if the wearer turns away from the mic. With a maximum sensitivity rating of -79 dB, the mic can handle SPLs up to 118 dB, providing plenty of headroom for normal speech applications.
Unterminated Connector
The flexible, low-noise cable on this version of the VT500X Necklace comes with unterminated pigtails, so you can manually wire in the appropriate connector for the wireless transmitter or recorder of your choice. Plug-in power ranging from 0.9 to 20V is required. Operation via an XLR connection with 48V phantom power is easily possible with the VT1126 adapter series (available separately).
