Schoeps DESERT ISLAND SET MK 41 Overview
The matte-gray Schoeps Desert Island Stereo Set with MK 41 Capsules is a versatile microphone kit designed for capturing high-quality stereo recordings. It includes two CMC 1U miniature Colette microphone preamps, two MK 41 supercardioid matched capsules (with their matching certificate), and two SG20 stand clamps, all packaged in an ultracompact Peli hard case for protection. The set is particularly useful for field-recording applications due to its portability and rugged build.
The MK 41 capsule's high directivity at low and medium frequencies is comparable to that of a shotgun microphone. It offers a natural sound due to a flat frequency response, which remains largely the same for all directions of pickup. This is particularly important for indoor recording. The MK 41 capsule is ideal for recording dialogue for film and as a spot microphone in the orchestra and on the opera stage.
The matte gray Schoeps CMC 1 U is a miniature Colette Series microphone amplifier offering uncompromising high fidelity in a lightweight and ultracompact form factor for studio recording, broadcast, and live stage applications. Presented as an alternative to the renowned Schoeps CMC 6 amplifier, the CMC 1 U is compatible with all existing MK mic capsules and Colette active accessories (all available separately).
It features a balanced XLR output, compliance with 12 or 48V phantom power, and low current consumption. Its Schoeps RFI Shield provides high immunity from RF interference for a clean, low-noise signal. The CMC 1 U supports the high maximum SPLs tolerated by the various MK mic capsules (available separately).

Styled in matte gray, and presented here in a matched-pair set, the Schoeps MK 4 is a cardioid condenser microphone capsule designed to deliver minimal coloration and accurate capture of sound. Because of its natural response, it is preferred by recording engineers who work with opera singers and other classical genres. This capsule is fashioned in such a way as to attenuate the proximity effect to a strong degree, so the tone won't be colored as a person sings closer to the microphone.
Paired with the CMC 6 or CMR, the capsule gives you a 40 Hz to 26 kHz frequency response, but this extends all the way to 41 kHz when you pair the capsule with the CMC 6xt. The mic is known for its flat, colorless, and transparent reproduction as well as its consistent on/off-axis response and its ability to reproduce the sound you hear with your ears.
The Schoeps SG20 Microphone Stand Adapter is designed to stand mount microphones measuring 20mm or 21mm in diameter. The SG20 features a strong metal housing and a durable plastic clamp. Its base is threaded for 5/8"-27 stands, and a threaded adapter is included to accommodate 3/8" and 1/2" mounting. The angle is continuously variable.
